June Rose Anderson

JUNE’S JOURNEY... Dedicated to the most giving soul of a person, June Rose Anderson passed away tragically at the age of eighty-six (86) on April 19, 2021. Born in Head of Creek, Maryland to the late Zedrick Nutter and Gladys Gates on May 21, 1934, June was the youngest of three sisters. Her middle sister Anne (2009) and oldest sister Nellie (2021), both preceded her in death. June’s first marriage was to Sidney Turner Goulbourne, Sr. who passed away in June 2014. Her marriage to Sidney blessed them with two sons; their oldest, Sidney Turner Goulbourne, Jr. and youngest, Mark Samuel Goulbourne. June’s second husband, Anzi Anderson, passed away in 1994. As a young child, June moved to Mount Vernon, New York where she grew up on South 13th Avenue. June worked different jobs until finding her true passion in the medical profession. She did not settle to become just a microbiologist, but excelled at it by earning many accomplishments. After thirty (30) years, she resigned from Mount Vernon Hospital and went to work at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Yonkers, New York for more than ten (10) years. June finally retired but still volunteered until moving to Seaford, Delaware to enjoy her golden years. June was a religious woman, first becoming a member of New Rochelle Seventh Day Adventist Church and then transferring her membership to White Plains Seventh Day Adventist. When June retired, her new dedication turned to the Seaford, Delaware Seventh Day Adventist Church. They welcomed her with open arms and made her feel at home. June worked two jobs at times and overtime to provide for her sons so that they would never need or want anything in their lives. She had a work ethic that soon would turn her attention to real estate. This venture allowed her to put a roof over someone’s head even though at times collecting rent was truly sporadic. June’s religious life guided her heart to care for her fellow man, woman and child, donating clothes to anyone in need and feeding anyone who was hungry. June’s strong faith allowed her to live every day putting someone else’s needs ahead of her own. I (Mark) was able to express my gratification more than once for the sacrifices that June Rose Anderson made for me. Yes, I learned a lot growing up, but even more in the last few years. Looking back on those aspects of life, which were gratefully appreciated, cause me to miss my mother even more. She was my mother and my best friend. My mother lived a life of faith and dedication to the Lord, her children, family and friends. June will no longer be seen physically with our eyes but will be felt in our hearts forever.
