Joseph Clinton Palmer Sr.

On March 09, 2019, Deacon Joseph Clinton Palmer Sr., peacefully departed this life and entered God’s rest. Deacon Palmer was 85 years old. He was born to the late Deacon Dennard and Mother Eva Palmer, the 9th of 16 children, on October 29, 1933. Deacon Joseph Clinton Palmer, Sr., was educated in Seaford, Delaware, where he attended Frederick Douglass School. Immediately after leaving school, at the age of 14, he joined the work force at the request of his father. From that point on, Deacon Palmer’s career began with masonry and construction and he became a master brick and mortar mason, with work accomplishments too numerous to mention. He worked throughout Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland and Virginia), under the guise of Joseph Palmer Masonry. Deacon Palmer’s pursuit of happiness began through his relationship with Christ. He was united in holy matrimony on November 15, 1952, to Virginia Echols, and became the proud father of 10 children, whom he adored and loved beyond measure. He also had a tremendous magnetism towards his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Deacon Palmer was a stranger to no one. To his family, it seemed as if he knew everybody. He was the patriarch who instilled holiness and the Word of God. Just like Stephen in the Bible, Deacon Palmer was full of the Holy Ghost and ministered to everyone he met. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Vanessa Hitchens and Sharon Holley; one granddaughter, Tysha White; sisters, Mabel Palmer, Hattie West, Bernice Cannon, Peggy Palmer-Murray, Essie Greene, Marguerite White and Catherine Camper; brothers, Guy Palmer, Milton Palmer, Frank Robinson, and Samuel Palmer and a set of male twins that died at birth. Deacon Joseph Clinton Palmer Sr. leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 66 plus years, Virginia Palmer; one sister-in-law, Lucinda Parham-Nichols; children, Gerald, (Linda), Joseph, Rayfield (Sandy), Althea, Kevin (Shirley),Verdine (Forrest), Andre, and Patrick; one special son, Trent Goslee; one brother, Deacon Henry Palmer; one sister, Pastor Rachel Abbott (Calvin); and a host of grand-children, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
