Jordan Ayres

Jordan Ayres, 7, went to be with Lord on January 10, 2015. Born January 17, 2007 in Nassawadox, VA, she was the daughter of Regina Ayres and Gregory Cobb. She attended Accawmacke Elementary School and was in the second grade. Jordan was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Pungoteague, VA. She was baptized in 2014 and was a member of the praise dance team, junior usher board, and Children's Church. Jordan was the rarest gem of a child anyone could ever ask for. She often left her family in awe of how God could bless them with a child with a beautiful mind, beautiful face, and beautiful heart. When it comes to her mind, Jordan was the ultimate scholar. Her mother, Regina, always encouraged her growth and learning; and Jordan began reading and completing mathematics problems at four years old. During her time at Accawmacke Elementary School, she excelled in the Talented and Gifted program and won Otter Awards for academic excellence. In her first grade year, Jordan's results on her standardized test for reading placed her at a sixth grade level. When we remember her beautiful face, the first thought is her beaming smile and those cheeks she inherited from her father. She was the perfect blend of both her parents. While her beauty was far beyond the ordinary, the best part of her was her beautiful heart. She had a loving, tender, upbeat spirit that could turn anyone's rainy day into sunshine. If someone was sad, she was there to comfort. Most of all, she loved the Lord and loved to praise Him in church every Sunday. Jordan loved spending time with and playing with her sister Journey and brother Jonathan. She loved to sing songs on her karaoke machine, with her favorites being "Rolling in the Deep" and "Call Me Maybe". She loved her Barbies and playing with the dollhouse her mom and Travis made for her. Her friends at school and church gave her the most fun memories and she couldn't wait to see them each day. She enjoyed sleepovers at Grandma's, eating seafood, and reading books. She also loved looking up nail designs on Pinterest. Of all things, she loved her mother and father with the fiercest devotion and was wholly proud to be connected to them. Jordan is survived by her loving father, Gregory Cobb, and her sister, Journey Cochrane. She also leaves her maternal grandparents, Leon and Zanetta Ayres of Greenbush, VA and paternal grandparents Scheneria Stratton (and husband Maurice Stratton) and Gregory Cochrane. She is also survived by her uncles Joshua, Xavier, Zachary and Jason; her aunt Ebony Ayres; step grandmother Bessie Stratton; and godparents Raven Garris and Charles Evans; her paternal great grandfather Joseph Cobb. Additionally, she leaves a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, family friends, special sister loves Narhyia, Tahnyia, Amiyri, and Aiyana; and her dear friends Zyberia, Kiana, Lamaija, Besa, Kanaija, and Paulina. She was preceded by her maternal great grandmother, Stella Ayres; maternal great grandfather, Burleigh Hack; paternal great grandmother Lillian Cobb; and great uncles Benjamin Ayres and Zed Wilson.
