John Lee Coston

John Lee Coston peacefully passed from this life on November 5, 2020 following a long debilitating illness at Peak Nursing facility (formerly Hartley Hall), where he had been a resident for several years. John was born on July 20, 1932 to the late Earl Livingston and Lessie Mae Kelly Coston. John married Bernice Johnson Coston, who preceded him in death on August 22, 2018. John and Bernice were faithful member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church for over thirty (30) years. John was a member of the United Methodist Men, until unable to participate. John was an extremely humble and talented man. He was educated in the public schools of Worcester County. He loved sports, especially basketball. Above all, he enjoyed playing the piano. He loved “tickling the ivories”, playing jazz music and listening to age-old hymns. He worked as a heavy-duty crane operator, building one of the beltways around Annapolis, and Baltimore, Maryland. John worked many years and retired from Campbell Soup Company in Pocomoke, Maryland as a Machinist Maintenance Operator. In retirement, he established a small welding business in the community. Johns served in the United States Armed Forces as a Sargent. He enlisted on July 9, 1952, and was honorably discharged on March 21, 1958. He serves two years with the 299th ENGR.BN.CO. “A”, Frankfurt McNair. John leaves to cherish treasured memories with many who loved and respected him: adopted sister, Sandra Lessie (Plute) Coston of Snow Hill, Maryland; sister-in-law, Helen Johnson and nephew, Mark A. Johnson, both of Pocomoke, Maryland; other special family members, Yolanda White and Kedrick White, both of Pocomoke, Maryland; nephew, Donald Johnson of Snow Hill, Maryland; several nieces and nephews—Felton Mills of New Castle, Delaware, Robin Coston, Robert, Jr. and Pamela Coston, all of Snow Hill, Maryland, Gloria Carr of Baltimore, Maryland, Franklin and Benita Coston of Hinesville, Georgia, Floretta Coston and Charles (Chuck) Victor, both of Salisbury, Maryland and Maurice Coston of Teaneack, New Jersey; his sister-in law, Leila Coston of Teaneck, New Jersey and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, John was preceded in death by six siblings—Lessie Mae, Vaughn, Earl T., Robert, Franklin and Felton, two nieces, Florence Agnes and Thelma Theresa and a nephew, Edmond Mercier.
