John B. Glover

John Bernard Glover was born on September 21, 1963 in Bamberg County Memorial Hospital, Bamberg, South Carolina to the late Carolyn (Byrd) & John Wesley Glover. He departed this life after a lengthy illness, on Wednesday December 5, 2012, @2:20 am, surrounded by family, friends & HIS HOSPICE NURSE. "Bernard" as he was known to all, was the youngest son born to Carolyn & John. He grew up with two brothers, Curtis and Gregory. Gregory preceded him in death. In his early years, before attending school, Bernard would spend time at his grandmother Anna Mae’s cafe enjoying her many home cooked meals. He would tell of the best summers, when David & Jacob his cousins from up north would come down to visit and spend the summer working on their grandfathers farm, especially when they would eat so much fresh picked watermelon until they were sick. "Big B" attended Denmark schools and was a very active participant in sports; he excelled in football & basketball, and continues to hold the record for most scored points in one basketball game, "39" which still stands today. After graduating from Denmark-Olar High, He attended Denmark Technical College, where he obtained a degree in Electrical technology. His search for employment in his field, brought him to New Jersey where he lived with his Uncle Sonny & Aunt Brenda Glover in Lawnside, New Jersey. Working various jobs in his field, he was quick to catch on and offer new ideas to improve many companies; he received many commendations and awards for his efforts. Always looking to enhance his mind and skills, he trained in a new field of quality improvement & control. This brought him to a different field of food production, he worked many years at Ready Pac Produce, and helped to develop some of their products on the shelves today. At the time of his diagnosis, he was employed by Delaware Valley Wholesale Florist in Mantua, NJ, as their night operations manager. Bernard was diagnosed with adenoid carcinoma in November of 2006. While living in New Jersey he met Natalie DeShields, and they were married in July of 1988 from this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Chanel Alexis, the light of his life, the day Chanel was dedicated to the LORD, Bernard dedicated his life to the LORD. He would take Chanel everywhere he went, and when she was not with him, he would surely fill you in on her latest accomplishments. After his retirement, In his leisure time, Bernard enjoyed attending and watching sporting events, he loved watching college football on Saturdays, “GO South Carolina State”, and pro football on Sundays “GO Eagles”, he and Natalie would always be on the opposite sides of the sofa, when the Cowboys & Eagles played. During the warmer months fishing, with his father in law Royden and good friends, Reuban, & Vance helped him to relax after many rounds of chemo & radiation. He traveled up and down the east coast in search of "the big one" and along the way he met and made many lasting friendships. Bernard was a practical joker as many would tell you, and would call friends up and claim to be from some police department saying that they were looking for and coming to get you in a matter of moments, lol. While living in Delaware, under the leadership of Rev. Walter E. Dixon, Bernard re-dedicated his life to the LORD at Bethel AME Church, in Smyrna, he sang in the Men's & Senior Choir and helped around the church when his health would allow him. Bernard leaves to rejoice in his memory, wife, Natalie, Daughter Chanel Alexis, father, John Wesley, father in law, Edward R. DeShields, brother, Curtis, Sister in law, Mozell, many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews ,cousins; a special cousin, Ron Glover and a host of friends.
