Joe Waters

HIS JOURNEY… Joe Nathan Waters, a resident of Salisbury, Maryland, departed this life on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the age seventy-one (71). He was born in Pahokee, Florida on January 11, 1952, the son of the late Leatha Waters, Van Buren Jackson (Doc) and Milton Waters. The family moved to Baltimore, Maryland during his childhood and later settled on the Eastern Shore, where he attended James M. Bennett High School. Following high school, he joined the United States Army Reserves and worked for the family construction business, Milton Waters and Sons. He was later employed at Campbell Soup and Green Hill Yacht and Country Club. Fond memories of Joe will be cherished by: his spouse of forty-one (41) years, Barbara Waters; his five daughters, India, Crystal, Talisa, Nichelle and Daylena; nine grandchildren, Marquis, Dekarr, Christopher, Elijah, Isaiah, Cayden, Carsen, Lyndon and Nya; two great-grand daughters, Malaysia and Karmin; fifteen siblings, Thaddeus Waters (Shirley) of Eden, MD, Carolyn Jackson Brown and Brenda Jackson, both of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Ricky Jackson, of New Orleans, LA, Cassandra Mickens and Jefferey Jackson (Charlayne), both of Riviera Beach, FL, Vantavia Jackson and Reggie Jackson, both of Palm Beach, FL, Daphne Robinson of St. Petersburg, FL, James Byrd, Earl Jackson, Gerald Jackson and Salicia Jackson, all of Pahokee, FL, Matoria Jackson Morales (William) of New York and Latoria Jackson Morgan (Everon) of Georgia; two aunts, Emma Corbin and Ethel Pryor and two uncles, Alfonzo Griffin and Richard Griffin. Also left to mourn his passing is a large host of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and dear friends. Joe was preceded in death by his son, Michael, his parents, his grandson, Devin, his great-grandson, Christopher, Jr., his sisters, Daniele Waters and Twala Jackson and his brothers, Earnest Jackson, Harvey Thompson, Benard Jackson and Van Buren Jackson II. Joe was a courageous man who was protective of who and what he loved. He could be counted on to provide his guidance and wisdom to those dear to him. His strong opinion, constant reminder of “saving for a rainy day,” love of fishing, stories from the past and home cooked meals will forever be greatly missed. Lovingly Submitted ~ The Family
