Joann Elizabeth Davis

Celebrating the Life of Joann E. Wilson-Davis Joann E. Wilson-Davis, (Wine, Joe, Josie), a resident of Coleman, Maryland was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Born on May 14, 1952, she completed her earthly journey at the age of seventy (70) on Friday, September 30, 2022. Joann was born to the late Doris Green and Bishop Clifton Cotton, Sr. She graduated from Chestertown High School on June 3, 1971. On June 22, 1990, she married Strom T. Davis, Sr. Joann worked for several businesses including Control Switch, Black & Decker and Old Wharf Inn. She had a passion for taking care of others and was a very compassionate caregiver. That is what made her decide to obtain a CNA/GNA license. Her first venture was Magnolia Hall in Chestertown, Maryland where she worked for close to fifteen (15) years before moving onto Corsica Hills in Centreville, Maryland. She worked there for fourteen (14) years until retiring in October 2019 to enjoy life with her children and grandchildren. Joann attended several churches in the area. The last one was Work In Progress Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Guy Jones, Sr. She loved to read her Bible and talk about the goodness of Jesus and all that He had done for her. Some of her enjoyable pastimes included helping to raise her grandchildren, watching horror movies and old westerns (Gun Smoke was her favorite), making homemade soup, baking cakes/pies, taking long car rides, dancing and listening to oldies but goodies. Her personality was full of laughter, love, joy, honesty, stubbornness, straightforwardness and all around just a one-of-a-kind woman living her life to the FULLEST. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Strom T. Davis Sr. and two brothers, Bruce Green and Gordan Wallace. She leaves to cherish precious memories: a son, Strom T. Davis Jr., and a daughter, Lauren Cousins both of Coleman, Maryland; five sisters, Donita Dickey of Baltimore MD, Bonda Brooks of Smyrna DE, Sharon Scott of Chestertown MD, Linda Elliot (Gregory) of Smyrna DE and Patricia Mann (Daniel) of Dover DE; five brothers, Henry Wallace of Jacksonville, NC, Clifton Cotton, Jr. of Chestertown, MD, John Wesley Cotton (Bonita) of Frederica DE, Khazaq Kasbad (Bronte) of Marydel, DE and Ronald Cotton, Sr. (Angela) of Newark DE; five grandchildren, Nijha Collins, Nyema Collins, Na’Caden Outland, Tymiere Smith and Ty’Keese Smith, all of Coleman, MD; one uncle, Harvey Wilson of Chestertown, MD; two aunts, Amy Wilson and Margaret Newman; a devoted god-son, Harold Somerville; one sister-in-law, Odessa Green of Chestertown, Maryland; special friends, Tina Wheeler, Ellen Wilson, Veronica Rochester, Joyce Sommerville, Kate O’ Donnell, Marquita, Nakeisha Henry, Melvin (Mote) and Roxanne Hynson.
