Jermaine L. Nichols

Jermaine Lotez Nichols, 40, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born on December 18, 1978, to Louis and Joyce Nichols Jr. in Dover, Delaware. Jermaine’s love for Christ began at his very first church home, Bibleway Temple COGIC. He completed his early education in the Capital School District, graduating from Dover High School in 1996. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and completed several deployments in the Middle East as a member of a Special Forces Team, where he was ultimately awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his courageous and heroic actions during battle. Upon completion of his military service, he was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist. Following his military service, Jermaine continued his education at Fayetteville State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He also earned a Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Cybersecurity from the University of Maryland University College. Jermaine was employed by the Department of Defense in Alexandria, Virginia, as an Investigative Review Specialist. He was well thought of and respected by his colleagues. On May 16, 2012, Jermaine married his sweetheart, Asia, and this union was blessed with three children, Britney, Colby and Aaliyah. Jermaine loved music concerts, especially old school hip hop and spending time with his family. He was a big kid at heart, who continued to enjoy his family’s cherished vacations to Disney World and was delighted to take Aaliyah on her first trip to Disney. Jermaine, a lifelong Raiders fan and an avid gun collector, with an impressive sneaker collection, was known for having many daily conversations with his mother. He was also a shopper much like his mother. Jermaine’s fun-loving spirit and smile will be forever cherished by his wife, Asia; his parents, Louis and Joyce Nichols, Jr.; his children, Britney, Colby, and Aaliyah; his siblings, Theresa Poon (Jeffery), Louis Nichols III (LaTasha), David Nichols (LeDonna), DoRhonja Nichols, and Desmon Nichols; father-in-law, Charles Moore; brother-in-law, Billy Moore (Heather); aunts, Delores Mosley, LaDane Jenkins, Emma Johnson, Regina Nichols (God Mom), Rev. Charlotte Nichols, Deborah Aldridge and Diane OBriant (Bill); uncles, John Nichols (Gladys), Ernest Moore and Craig Moore (Rodney); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jermaine was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Elizabeth Nichols Sr.; James and Ada Davis; Vincent Stanley, Sr. and Billy and Sylvia Moore; aunt, Annabelle Holland; uncle, Ronald Jenkins; and brother-in-law, Eric Moore. Until we meet again, we will hold him in our hearts.
