Jennifer Ann Jones

Jennifer Ann Jones passed away peacefully at Aurora Senior Living at Manokin in Princess Anne, Maryland at the age of 71, on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Born in Princess Anne, Maryland, she was the oldest of three sisters and six brothers to Alene and Gilbert Jones of Mt. Vernon. She received her primary and secondary education in the Somerset County School System. She attended Maryland State College, Morgan State Collage, and Michigan State College where she continued to excel in her academic studies. She lived in Baltimore, Maryland for many years. She worked as a Medical Secretary at Maryland General Hospital and then retired from Spring Grove Hospital. Jennifer was blessed to have three sons Guy Leslie Jones, Bobby Gene Jones, and James Lee Jones. Jennifer has been dedicated to Jehovah as one of his Witnesses for over 30 years. She started her service to Jehovah as a member of the Westover Congregation, then she moved to the Catonsville Congregation, next to the Druid Hill Congregation and when she passed she was a member of the West Salisbury Congregation. She loved to attend and participate at the meetings. She enjoyed the association with the loving brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall. Jennifer enjoyed participating in the field service ministry, sharing the Bible message with all she met. When her mobility became limited she enjoyed sharing the Bibles message by writing letters. Because of the fine conduct of an old class mate and friend, Brother Jonathan Wright, Jennifer’s life was greatly impacted leading her to dedicate her life to Jehovah and the ministry later in life. Her family and friends affectionately called her “Cookie” and “Auntie”. She loved to travel and was always called the “Gypsy” by her family members. Cookie would pack a few things in her brown paper bag and was ready to go in a few minutes to leave town, but she always returned home to handle family business whenever she was needed. She will always be remembered for her smile and hugs, trips to Wal-Mart, being driven around until she would sweat, making delicious desserts, being an avid reader, her trips to Baskin Robbins for Gold Medal Ribbon and Rainbow Sherbet Ice Cream, asking for her miniature Coors Light and Baked Lays Potato Chips, her eye for plants then killing them, the love of cold fresh air in the winter time while everyone else froze. She always said about the three sister that “We can’t even make a whole person if we tried because we’re all messed up on the left side”, and last but not least, she always believed in the promise of the resurrection and a better life ahead in the Paradise here on Earth. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sons, and a granddaughter. Cookie will be greatly missed by her son Bobby Jones, Sr.; grandchildren Dashia Johnson, Bobby Jones, Jr., Paigina Jones; two great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Marie Jones, and siblings, Louis (Brenda) Jones, Evelyn Jones-Kelley, Wilbur Jones, Rick Jones, Keith Jones, Joyce (Tyrone) Murray, Corey Jones, Christopher (Andrea) Jones and a host of nieces and nephews.
