“Reflections of Jennifer’s Life” Jennifer Lynn Carpenter, daughter of the late Arthur, Jr. and Winnie Carpenter, was born on June 11, 1960 in Salisbury, Maryland. The chimes of time called for her to depart this life on Friday, May 5, 2017. Jennifer received her formal education in the Accomack County public school system. After graduating high school in 1978, she obtained an Associates degree in Fashion Merchandising from National Business College. Later, displaying perseverance and persistence despite all obstacles, in 2005 she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland, where she was also employed for a tenure of over 30 years. Discouragements and impossibilities were never a threat—it is this that distinguished her strong soul from the weak. Jennifer was a devoted mother, sister and aunt. Her most thrilling hobby was shopping. It was always “Shoe O’clock” somewhere; nothing haunted her more than an item she didn’t buy. She was an avid reader and had a special interest in watching sports. Jennifer loved her self, the Lord and always found refuge in the Lord’s house. She was saved, sanctified, filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus’ Name. Reflection on Jennifer's life encompasses faith, beauty, companionship, loyalty, peace, and love. She saw the miracle of spring, the friction of summer and the beauty of autumn followed by the repasses of winter. She knew and understood why GOD was accepting her into His kingdom. Jennifer leaves to cherish her memory: two faithful sons, Travis Carpenter (Hope) and Corey Carpenter-Handy(Desirae); one devoted sister, Laverne Grantt (James); two nieces, LaToya Williams and Shenika Lewis; one great nephew, Tamaue’ Hammond; one great niece of whom she was very fond, Mahalo Johnson; special companion, Hank Handy III and devoted mother figure, “Mom Ruby” Handy; two aunts, Lillie Jackson and Mary Lou Purcell; one brotherly figure, George Christopher; friends for whom she had great fondness, Sherema Copes, Jennifer Jones, Benita Miller and a host of other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Jeffery Carpenter. To God be the glory for the life she lived, and all with whom she shared it.
