Jean Virginia Turner

Obituary Jean Virginia Turner, a resident of Wye Mills, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 4, 2024. She was (92) years old. Born on July 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George Henry Green and Beulah Mae Green. She received her primary education through the Queen Anne’s County School system. She was employed with Holly’s Restaurant for many years and also worked as a domestic servant for several years. After working with several families for a number of years, she retired at the age of 80 years old. Jean Turner was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1950 and was a faithful and dedicated member for 74 years. She participated actively and enjoyed door to door ministry and various activities. She was a loving, caring, sweet person who enjoyed cooking, cleaning, taking care of her grandchildren, great-grands, nieces, nephews and being in the company of her family. Jean was preceded in death by: her parents; her late husband of 56 years, James Ira Turner, Sr.; one daughter, Sonya Turner; one son, Bruce Turner; one great granddaughter, Shardae’ Downes; one great-grandson, Isaiah Phillips; seven brothers, Gordon, Ronald, Donald, James, George, Charleston and Wallace (Green); two sisters, Evelyn Green and Betty Mae Gross; three nieces, Darlene Cornish, Betty Ann Brooks and Patricia Ann Wright and one brother-in-law, John Robert Gross. She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with three sons, James (Polly), Jonathon (Sharon) and Kevin (Javelyn) and two daughters, Iris Corbin (Robert) and Shawn Turner. In addition to her children, she raised: two sons, Stewart Harris who preceded her in death and Rodney Williams (Clara); ten grandchildren, James Turner, Jr. (Cindy), Troy Corbin (Shelley), Sherri Robinson (William), a granddaughter whom she reared as a daughter and was also her caregiver during her last days, Gideon Turner, Jonathon Turner, Jr. (Yolanda), Kevin Turner, Jr. (Latoya), Keith Turner, Kia Thomas, Ka’Sheem Moaney and Aaron Turner; one brother, John Edmond Green; seven great-grandchildren; one special niece, Beverly Reese Clark, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
