Jean Louise Fletcher

Love is the emotional anchor of a life well-lived, whether it was found in a lifelong marriage, a hardworking mother, a supportive sister, jovial cousin, doting aunt, or a devoted friendship that functioned as family. Jean Louise Banks Fletcher, daughter of the late Clifford A. and Myrtle Matthews Banks, was born March 6, 1950, in Federalsburg, MD, and stepped into eternity Friday, April 10, 2026. Jean served as a Custodial Engineer for the Seaford School District until her retirement. Many times, she could often be found riding with the love of life, Charles E. Fletcher, around Seaford distributing bread and other food items to meet the needs of her community. Jean was not only an avid news watcher, but she was also a self-proclaimed local news reporter. Her ability to tell stories would not only tickle her, but her entire listening audience. Jean found pleasure entertaining everyone in her presence. Her sister Lettie, who was on the phone with her multiple times a day, and her cousin Barabara were two of her favorite people to perform for. She seized every opportunity to ‘talk noise’ to someone, play the lottery with promises of provision for her family when she ‘hit big’, and convey her love for you at the close of every phone conversation. Jean attended the Clarence Street Church of God in Seaford, DE. She never negated to acknowledge every blessing provided her by the Lord stating, “It’s a blessing, it’s just a blessing.” Out of every memorable saying, she made sure to repeat this one as time was closing on her journey… “Don’t you let nobody make you miss Heaven!” In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her two brothers, James ‘Clifford Jr.’ Banks and Vaughn M. Banks, bonus sons, Garry Evans and Lenard Fletcher, and most recently a special cousin, Lucretia C. Richards. Jean is survived by her daughters, Navone M. Houston of Seaford, DE, and Dawn E. Fletcher of Princess Anne, MD, and bonus daughter Nikita Jacobs (Ronnell) of Laurel. She is also survived by her brother, Terrance Banks (Tanasa) of Hillsboro, NC, and her sisters, Lettie M. Cannon (Carlton) of Magnolia, DE, Joan K. Banks and Carolyn F. Banks of Seaford, DE and Beverly C. Banks of Dover, DE. “Where you see one, you see four.” (Clifford Banks Facts 101) She also leaves behind treasured cousins, Barbara Swan and Greg Jones, two favored nephews, Carlton L. Cannon, Jr. and Christoper V. Banks, and her two amazing caretakers, Beatrice Jenkins and Esther Roberts. Jean will be remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bonus children include: Sabrina Horsey (Trevor) of Seaford, DE, Mark Fletcher (Kelia) of Norfolk, VA, Lance Fletcher of Bridgeville, DE, and Rydell Fletcher (Elsa) of Lanham, MD; her in-laws, Alan Fletcher (Ruth) of Seaford, DE, Margaret Dorsay of Milford, DE, Rosalie Coverdale and Laverne Ross (Isaac) of Seaford, DE, and Delores Davis (Neil) of Milford, DE.
