James Troy Jr.

Life began for James Troy Jr. in Dover, Delaware born on November 11, 1953, as the eldest son of the late James Troy Sr, and Queen Esther Troy. Growing up in Dover, Delaware, James attended the Capital School District and graduated from Dover High School. As a teenager, James participated in various sports and activities, particularly, in Track and Field. At the age of 12, James discovered his love and passion for singing. As an adult, sang with various gospel groups and bands, including: Kingdom Men Ministry, Spirit and Truth and other various gospel groups. After completing High School, James migrated to New York, where he joined Second Emmanuel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. James Phillips, to work out his salvation. While in New York, James continued his education at The New York Institute. Thereafter, being hired as a Physical Therapist Tech with Cardinal Cook Rehabilitation Center, N.Y.C., where he worked for approximately eight years until he furthered his employment with New York State Division of Adult Services. In 1998, James migrated back to Delaware and continued his employment with Silver Lake Nursing Home, where he retired after several years, as a CNA. James returned to his home church; First Pilgrim Baptist Church, Camden, Delaware, under the leadership of Bishop Dorena C. Miles, and later joined Second Baptist Church, Dover, Delaware, under the leadership of Pastor John Bagley. Shortly after, James moved on to Union Baptist Church, Dover, Delaware, where he continue his Christian walk with the Lord. September 2017, James & Alberta Troy finally married and joined as soul mates. James stated that he always wanted to marry Alberta and felt that his life was now fully complete. After retirement, James enjoyed spending his spare time singing, enjoying gospel music, watching movies, conversating and eating at Spence Sale. James also loved debating about politics, sports and life events. He was AKA, “THE GREAT DEBATER”. On Sunday, June 16, 2019, Father’s Day, while kneeling to pray, God called James home to rest. James leaves to cherish his fond memories; his beautiful and loving wife, Alberta Troy, Dover, DE; one daughter, Krynthia Troy, Dover, DE; one step-daughter, Desiree Garrison, Dover, DE; two brothers, William Troy, Dover, DE and Albert Troy, Columbia, SC; four sisters, Mae Helen Gore, Baltimore, MD, Guadalupe Robinson, Magnolia, DE, Joyce Troy, Dover, DE and Sharon Spivey, Camden, DE; two brothers-n-law, Rev. Dennis Spivey, Camden, DE and James Gibson, Bronx, NY; three grandchildren, JaQuay Blue, Bi’Jere Troy and Travis Marcus, all of Dover, DE; one great granddaughter, Rilynn Passwater, Dover, DE; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.
