Jeremiah 29 :11-13 James Clifton Stewart, a resident of Delmar, Maryland, departed this life on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 (2:04 AM). He was seventy-nine (79) years old. James was born on March 23, 1940 to the late Horace I. Stewart and Pearl G. West-Stewart. He was the youngest of three children. James, received his early elementary education at Salisbury Elementary School. He attended Salisbury High School, graduating in 1958. He was a jack of all trades, a wise counselor, a stand-up comic, a medical Dr., and a shade tree mechanic of large and small engines-all the while working for the Campbell Soup Company, Moore’s Lumber Company of Salisbury, MD, a machine operator for Dupont Nylon plant in Seaford, DE, Shore Up, Inc. in Salisbury, MD, and a Machinist for Dresser Wayne Industries, where he served as a Shop Steward for United Local Auto Workers 354 of Salisbury, MD and retired after thirty-five (35) years of service. James gave his life to Christ at an early age and served Him throughout his life. He was baptized at Union United Methodist Church in Delmar, MD and was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Mardela Springs, MD. There he served as the president of the Trustees, Men’s Choir, and a member of the Official Board. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Betty Ann Nichols on November 12, 1960. Through this union they had five children. James leaves to cherish precious memories: his devoted wife, Betty Ann Nichols-Stewart; six sons, Wilson, Sr. (Shelia) Stewart of Salisbury, MD, James (Mavis) Stewart of Delmar, DE, Anthony (Nichole) Stewart of Salisbury, MD, Vince (Paula) Stewart of Galena, MD, Brian Smith of Fruitland, MD, Donald Stewart of Delmar, MD; one daughter, Gwendolyn Stewart-Spence (Pastor Raymond) of Delmar, MD; two brothers, Elder Ralph (Alvera) Stewart of Salisbury, MD and George (Caroline) Gale of Wilmington, DE; a special adopted daughter, Sherrie and her daughter Jordyn and a special cousin he always considered a sister, Phyllis West-McNeal. He also leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers-in-law, Reverend Dr. Hugh (Wanda) Nichols, Gregory (Reverend Lucille) Nichols and Wayne (Carol) Nichols; four sisters-in-law, Christina Jones, Joyce (Robert) Batson, Phyllis Bivens, and Reverend Janice Austin; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
