James Corbit Meade

James C. Meade, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Dover, DE. James was born in 1933 son of the late Armster and Harriet Meade in Middletown, DE. After graduating from Delaware State College he was employed as a civil service employee at DAFB where he was Air Terminal Supervisor when he retired in 1990. James was a Past Master of Prudence Lodge No. 6 in Dover where he was an instrumental part of building and managing the New Square Club when it was built in the late 70's up until 2009. He was also a member of the Elks club and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He is preceded in death by his wife Christine Cora (Bordley) Meade and his daughter Donna Lynn Meade. Also preceded in death by his brothers, Armster Meade, Jr. and Norman Meade and sisters, Vella Mae Meade, Rachel Johnson and Doretha Hampton. James is survived by three sons, Wayne M. Meade of Oakland, CA, Michael L. Meade of Dover, DE and Craig C. Meade of Middletown, DE and three grandchildren, Jasmine C. Meade and James R. Meade of Dover, DE and Ronald Meade and his wife, Molly of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by a brother, Theodore Meade of Wilmington, DE and Harriet Brown of Georgia. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Bordley of Camden, DE, Carolyn and Russell Pleasanton of Dover, DE, Ernestine and James Collins of Camden, DE, Sarah Bordley Dover, DE, Shirley Bordley, Camden, DE, Janice Bordley, Dover, DE and Phyllis Bordley of Dover, DE. He is also survived by a host of nieces. nephews, cousins and devoted friends. James was a loving husband and devoted father who was very kind and generous to his extended family and friends. He enjoyed working behind the scenes for the Square Club, Inc. in Dover and along with his brothers-in-law, the late Harvey Bordley and the late Dennis Bordley and close family friend the late Edmund Higgins all took pride in building up the New Square Club located on State College RD. He was also preceded in death by two other brothers-in-law, James Bordley Jr. and George Bordley Sr. both of Dover, DE. James was a quiet, reserved private person who rarely sought any favors but was quick to provide a favor for those in need. James enjoyed doing income taxes for his family and friends right up to the time of his untimely death. His extreme kindness and generosity to many, many others will never be forgotten. James kept his mind sharp in his later years by engaging himself on his home computer and doing the different puzzles in the newspaper on a daily basis. Most of all, he loved more than anything his Grandchildren, Ronald, Jasmine and James and they too loved him. Rest in Peace James Meade.
