James Otis Baynard

James Otis Baynard entered the world on April 27, 1936, in Dover, Delaware, to his loving mother, Missionary Argurita Baynard and caring father, James Otis Saulsbury. Affectionately known as “Bunk”, James was the oldest of his parents eight children. Bunk was schooled in Delaware public schools and finished his education at Delaware State University. Bunk proudly worked for Dover Air Force Base and The Delaware State Housing Authority. Bunk was ordained a Deacon at Second Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and cooking. Bunk would frequently share his bounty with friends and family. Bunk married Georgette Christian on April 14, 1983. Bunk is preceded in death by his father, James Otis Saulsbury; mother, Argurita Baynard; step-father, Edward Warren; and sisters Myra Rosemond, Anna March and Patricia Kelly, Bunk leaves to cherish his memory five children, Jerome Brinkley of Dover, Delaware, Dorothy Adams of Dover, Delaware, Yolanda Christian of Dover, Delaware, Tameka Spence of Glenn Ellyn, Illinois, and James Raymond “JR” Adams of Dover, Delaware; one daughter-in–law, Ronika Adams; two grandchildren, Cierra Adams and Benjamin Spence; one brother, Edward “Bubbie” Warren of Harrington, Delaware, three sisters, Lois Barnaby of Dover, Delaware, Cynthia Warren of Dover, Delaware, and Roslyn Winns of Brooklyn, New York; one aunt, Myrtle Roberson of Brooklyn, New York; two uncles, Ralph Baynard and Raymond “Chubbie” Baynard, both of Dover, Delaware; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many very special friends. Our dad was loved by many. He worked hard to provide for his family and loved us unconditionally. He was always there for anyone who needed him and he really cherished his family. His passing has left a void in the lives of everyone he touched. He will be sorely missed, but we know he’s in Heaven resting in peace. We love and miss you dad, and we’ll be forever grateful for our time with you.
