Memorial Reflections Our beloved, James Edward Bailey, was called home and gained his angel wings on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at his residence in Laurel, Delaware, surrounded by his loving family. James was born August 5, 1952, in Accomack, Virginia, to the late Annie Mae Bailey and James Edward Crump. He graduated from Laurel Senior High School in June of 1971. He later married Ruth Monica Chance on July 16, 1976. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country faithfully for nine years. He was a hard worker all his life. He was employed by Perdue as a truck driver for 19 years. His love for working was non-stop. James provided unconditional love and support to his family or to anyone in need. He found great joy in vacationing with his family and friends. He was an exceptional father and grandfather to many. He also enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family during the later years of his life. James was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Elizabeth Bailey. He leaves behind to cherish his precious memories: his wife of 42 years, Ruth Monica Bailey; 2 sons, Christopher Chance (Tanya) of Newark, DE and Jamie Bailey (Denisha) of Seaford, DE; 3 daughters, Demetrius Bailey of Laurel, DE, Helena White (Antonio) of Bridgeville, DE and Takesha Bailey of Seaford, DE; God sister, Marvia Crockett of Laurel, DE; 8 brothers-in-law, Samuel Chance of Fayetteville, NC, John Chance (Eliza) of Fayetteville, NC, Jerry Chance (Dorthy) of Fayetteville, NC, Robert Chance of Fayetteville, NC, Willie Chance of Fayetteville, NC, Terry Chance (Jane) of New Rochelle, NY, Henry Chance (Audrey) of Federalsburg, VA and Tommy Chance (Sharlene) of Raleigh, NC; 5 sisters-in-law, Annie Williams of Fayetteville, NC, Barbara McKenzie (Charles) of Inman, SC, Lula Brown (Charles) of Long Beach, CA, Mary McDonald of Fayetteville, NC, and Roberta Best of Clinton, NC; aunt, Evelyn Bradley of Seaford, DE; 3 uncles, Ernest Lee Snead of Millsboro, DE, Hurley Snead (Virginia) of Laurel, DE and Hugo (Ruth) of Jacksonville, NC; and a host of grandchildren, cousins, family, and friends.
