James E. Anderson

James E. Anderson was born on February 17,1945, in Harrington, Delaware, to Louella Anderson Smith and Ike Merchison. My father had many names: Herbie, Shorty, Knob, Pops, Dad, Friend, Counselor, Peacemaker, Storyteller, Brother, Uncle, Comedian, Son, Pop-Pop, Teacher, Husband, and Father. Where do we start talking about this man? Herbie attended Pierre S. Dupont Elementary School, and William Henry High School. He worked several jobs before he enlisted into the United States Army and served his country. James loved the Lord he was a member of the Metropolitan United Methodist Church of Harrington, Delaware, where he held several positions. He was also a member of the All in One Hunting Club, the VFW, and an avid member of the train club. Herbie was very passionate about trains, trucks, and riding his motorcycles with family and friends. Knob was very talented. He loved drawing and played a variety of instruments. All who knew him would hear him humming or singing before they ever saw him. What Herbie loved the most was his family, friends, and dog, Jingles. He had several close friends, however, he considered two of them as brothers. The first is Ralph Tildon, (Florita) of Herdon, Virginia. Ralph and Herbie were best friends since kindergarten and had great stories to tell. To see them together you would have thought they were still young kids playing at each other's houses and they remained the best of friends until he passed. The other was Ray Nichols Sr., (Dorothy) and they had been employed at several companies together, lived down the road from each other for years, before he moved in town, and they shared over 40 plus years of friendship which remained until he passed. Everyone that came in contact with Herbie could not help but like and love him. He had a very caring spirit always asking if you were ok, hungry, or had gas money. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louella Anderson Smith; father, Ike Merchison; mother-in-law, Mable Lake, and daughter, Kimberley Louella Anderson. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Patricia A. Anderson, Felton, DE., adopted mother, Mable Carey; children, Cameron W. Russ (Kaneisha) of Harrington, DE., James S. Anderson of Viola, DE, Trina A. Phillips (Don Carlos) Marrietta, GA, Nichole L. Anderson of Viola, DE., Consuela R. Anderson of Inwood, Iowa, Kailyn M. Anderson Marrietta, GA; siblings, Stella Mae Young (William) Frederica, DE, Helena Wright and Jesse Wright of Bridgeville, DE, and Christine Cranmer (John) of Clayton, DE; and grandchildren, Desiree Burrows, Eugene Anderson, Jemal Criner, Trezhon Criner, James S. Anderson Jr., Sanaiya Anderson, Allyssa Anderson, Don Carlos Phillips, Jr., and Olivia Phillips. He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends to remember his memories.
