Jacqueline Myra Cann

Jacqueline Myra Cann, born July 27, 1943, to Harold Randolph Henry and Emma Louise Henry Scott, was called to her heavenly home on October 31, 2019, at Christiana Hospital in Newark Delaware. Jackie, as she was affectionately known, grew up in Chestertown, Maryland (Georgetown). She attended Garnett School and went to live with her loving grandparents, Oliver and Octavia Henry, while her parents were employed in Westchester County, New York. At age 15, Jackie joined her parents, where she graduated from Fox Lane High School in Westchester County in 1961. After two years of college, Jackie married her high school sweetheart, William Timothy Cann, on October 19, 1963. Their union produced three children, Susan, Monique and Jarrod Cann. Jackie found work at Kraft General Foods in Dover, Delaware, where she stayed for 38 years and made many, many wonderful friends with whom she kept in touch with for a lifetime. Her friends at Kraft General Foods affectionately nicknamed her “Muffin”. Jackie’s engaging smile and natural warmth drew many to love her at first sight. She had a kind and generous spirit. She never hesitated to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. Jackie’s caring and gentle way is what many will remember most about her. She also loved to shop and took great pride in decorating her home. Her family will remember her as a great cook and miss that dearly. Jackie loved to collect angels, and she imparted her angelic sweetness in personality to her family and friends, along with a generous sense of humor, leaving us with a smile on our faces when remembering her. Jackie was gentle, but also very strong, as she battled her first stroke at age 50. Determined to join her friends and get back to work at Kraft General Foods, she endured physical therapy and was able to return until retiring. Jackie continued to live a rich life and enjoyed the love of her family and friends. She had joined a wonderful church family at Community Baptist Church, where she became a Missionary. Jackie remained an active church member until suffering more strokes, but she never lost her positive outlook and love of life. Jackie never complained about her disabilities because she appreciated God’s Grace in allowing her to recover and His Mercy in extending her life to 76 years of age. Jackie remained an example of courage and determination. Jackie was preceded in death by her late husband William Timothy Cann; parents, Harold and Emma Henry; father-in-law, Arthur Cann; mother-in-law, Emma Cann and daughter Monique Cann. Jackie leaves to mourn, her daughter, Susan Cann of Townsend, DE; son, Jarrod Cann and daughter-in-law, Kiijuana Cann of Hartly, DE; sister Joyce Bantum of New Castle, DE; sister-in-law, Ardeth Susan Cann of Severn, MD; 2 god-daughters, Chantel Scott of Baltimore, MD and Raina Barnes of Bronx, NY; grandchildren, Jarrod Cann, Jr, Donnell Johnson, Jr, Ananda Cann, and Josiah Cann; great grandchild, Jeir Cann; a host of cousins and life-long friends, too numerous to name, but who blessed her life with enduring and abundant love. Jackie would want you to know that God took her away on Angel’s Wings, forever more, to be with those who have passed on before, but will patiently wait to meet her family and friends again at Heaven’s Gate!
