Imogene Mae Trader

Imogene’s Journey... Imogene Mae Trader, daughter of the late Thelma Louise Barker and William John Taylor, was born in Salisbury, Maryland on Saturday, September 15, 1956. She departed this life on Monday, June 20, 2022 after having complications from cardiac arrest. On June 4, 1974, Imogene graduated from Pocomoke High School. After graduation, she started on her journey by attending Job Corps for Women. She attended there from 1974 to 1975, where she received multiple honors for completing courses. After Job Corps, Imogene worked at Campbell Soup Company, Inc. in Pocomoke City from 1976 to 1990. Upon her departure from Campbell Soup, Imogene began attending Woodbridge Business Institution in June 1990. Imogene’s favorite Bible scripture was Philippians 3:14: “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. She was a member of St. John AME Church in Pocomoke City. Our mother loved to write and she was very talented at it. Her number one fan when she started writing was her wonderful mother, Thelma L. Barker. She also was the assistant to her mother for many years when she was a Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack #143. In her spare time, Imogene enjoyed watching her favorite wrestlers on WWE. She was a wonderful grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, Andre’ G. Collins, Jr., Monisha L. Collins and Jaheim C. Burrell. Imogene truly adored all of them and was always proud of their ever accomplishment. Left to cherish loving memories of Imogene are: one son, Terence W. Belfield (Kendra) and one daughter, Cashawnda T. Burrell, both of Pocomoke City, Maryland; her father, Bobby Lee Barker; three grandchildren, Andre’ Garnet Collins, Jr. Monisha Louise Collins and Jaheim Cameran Burrell, all of Pocomoke City, Maryland; three brothers, Richard Trader and Jimmy Knox, both of Pocomoke City, Maryland and Bobby Trader (special friend) of Delaware; one sister, Lola Trader of Salisbury, Maryland; two nieces, Shirley Hall (Maurice) of Delaware and Wysheka Trader of Virginia; one nephew, Demetrice Fields of Salisbury, Maryland and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Imogene was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma L. Barker, father William J. Taylor, two brothers, Alonzo J. Taylor and William D. Taylor aka (String Bean); one sister-in-law, Madeline Trader, her maternal grandparent, Lola Mae Trader and George Washington Corbin and one aunt, Lillie Byrd. Imogene was a special woman and her name in Latin means “Image of her Mother.” She was truly an image of Thelma Louise Barker in every way. They were inseparable when you saw one you saw the other.
