Howard Franklin Bordley

Howard Franklin Bordley was born on June 6, 1947 in Armstrong Corner, Delaware. Howard departed this life to be with the Lord on August 28, 2014 in Dover, Delaware. Howard was the son of the late Ella Mae Clayton Bordley and the late Walter M. Bordley, Sr. He was number seventeen of eighteen children. Howard worked for Commercial Roofing in New Castle, Delaware, he started working for this company when he was 16 years old. He worked for the same company for 51 years, loyal to his job. Howard enjoyed working on cars, whenever someone needed him to fix something or they broke down, he would always be there to help, never said "no", everyone could always count on Daddy, Pop-Pop, Uncle and Friend. Howard was a happy person, loved to laugh and his laughter made everyone laugh with him. Howard's children would describe him as the "Best Father Ever", the grandchildren would say the "Greatest Pop- Pop Ever" and the great grandchildren would say "the Bestest Greatest Pop-Pop in the whole wide world" There are no words to describe how much we will miss him. Howard loved to watch westerns on television, in his childhood he wanted to be a cowboy, his nickname was Rifleman, due to an incident that shall forever remain a secret between Howard, Odell and Bridgie. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. If you asked Aaron, "How would you describe your Pop-Pop?". His answer would be, "Pop-Pop Howard's grandchildren are the center of his life." Montez was asked, "What are your thoughts regarding your Pop-Pop Howard?" Montez replied, "I thank him for being the best grandfather a grandson could ever have. I love him and will miss him." You could often find Howard enjoying Justice's band concerts and football games. When Justice was asked, "What do you want the world to know about your Pop-Pop?" He replied, "I love him and Pop- Pop Howard would do anything for me whenever I asked." The great grandchildren always wanted to ride home and stay with Pop-Pop. Howard walked the great grandchildren to the park whenever they came for a visit. Howard was a cautious driver, slow driver, holding traffic driver. If the police was coming, with the sirens on, the folks in the car with Howard would say, "don't worry you know they are 'not after you, unless its for being too cautious." We thank God for the precious time we shared with Howard. Howard leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Emma; one daughter, Justine "Kandy" Flint (Robert); one son, Jeff Lively (Faith); three grandsons, Aaron (Mallorie), Montez and Justice; six great-grandchildren, Aaron Jr., Jayden, Leiarah, Elijah, Jaden, and Jaxson; one brother, John W. Bordley of Wilmington, DE; one sister, Ruth Tatum (Frank) of Jupiter, FL; a devoted niece, Rose M. Gillis; best friend and cousin, Rosemary Martin; and many nieces, nephews, family & friends.
