Howard Grason Allen

Howard Grason Allen, 72, of Dover, Delaware, departed this life on Monday, February 12, 2018, in Bay Health Kent General Hospital. Mr. Allen was the son of William and Ruth Mills-Allen. He was born on December 22, 1945. He attended Russell Moton High School. In 1973, he was joined in marriage to Charlotte Thomas-Allen. In 1985 he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. He has faithfully served the music ministry of Calvary Baptist Church. He plays multiple instruments and taught his children and grandchild how to play. Howard’s earlier years in Dover were spent in Civil Service at Dover Air Force Base. He went on to become self-employed in his upholstery business until he retired. Howard enjoyed helping people. He has many special friends. It was important to him to treat people with kindness and go the extra mile. He was widely loved in his neighborhood. Kids would come to him to fix their bikes and neighbors would borrow tools. When Mr. Allen became less mobile, those same neighbors would help him. He was like a father and grandfather to the neighborhood. Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife Charlotte Marie Thomas-Allen. One surviving aunt, Lucille Handy of District Heights, MD. He is survived by his loving daughters, Crystal Allen-Horne and Patricia Allen of Dover, DE, and Martina Potter of Easton, Maryland; four brothers, Ronald Allen of Hurlock, MD, Gregory Allen of Easton, MD, Michael Allen of Cambridge, MD, and William Allen Jr. of NJ; two sisters, Malinda Taylor of Salisbury, MD and Carolyn Allen of Salisbury, MD; two brothers in-law, Dwight Thomas of Salisbury, MD and Chester Thomas of Easton, MD; six sisters in-law, Delores Sasser of Easton, MD, Mary Alston of Brooklyn, NY, Geraldine Dill of Easton, MD, Estella Thomas of Philadelphia, PA, Alice Thomas of Salisbury, MD, and Elizabeth Thomas of Easton, MD; three grand-daughters, Danielle Potter of Easton MD, Chalay Horne of Dover, DE, and Myonna Potter of Easton, MD; and a host of extended family and friends.
