Rev. Henry J. Wilson Jr.

“A time to be born” - Henry J. Wilson, Jr. was born July 12, 1932 in Bamberg, South Carolina to the late Henry Wilson, Sr. and Mary Jane Diggins, the eldest of four siblings. “Entering the arms of JESUS” - In obedience to our Heavenly father, Henry peacefully responded to the Master’s call on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Delaware. “A time for every purpose under the HEAVEN” - As a child, Henry attended the Bamberg School District. He met and married the love of his life Bernice Brown on September 25, 1952. From this union were six children. Henry was a dedicated husband and father. He served in the US Army, a veteran of the Korean War. He began a career at the Draper Canning Company, Milton, Delaware, for Thirty-five years until his retirement. Those who knew Henry knew he could not keep still so he went back in the work force at Carpenter Farms, Milton, Delaware until he became ill in 2008. “Accepting Jesus Christ as Your Savior” - Henry accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at an early age, becoming a member of Miracle Restoration Church, Milford, Delaware under the leadership of Reverend Lawrence Spady. Henry later joined the Spanish American Pentecostal Church where he was ordained as a Reverend and Co-Pastor, under the leadership of Pastor Pablo Olivera. Upon the passing of Pastor Pablo Olivera, Rev. Wilson became a member of Crossroad Community Church, Georgetown, Delaware, under the leadership of Pastor Rick Betts. Henry loved visiting other churches in the surrounding towns and communities to give his testimony of God’s goodness. “A Time to LOVE” - Everyone who had ever met Henry," knew him to be a bold man on fire for his “Savior and Lord”, loving, kind, considerate, cheerful, a giving person and loved reading his Bible. He carried these characteristics into every facet of his life, and those who knew him best will cherish those memories forever. Henry will also be remembered for the seeds he planted in stranger’s lives as he approached them and ask “Do you know about my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?” Every time we watch an old episode of Sanford and Son we will remember Henry because that was his favorite sitcom. He loved to laugh and reminisce about old times. “A Time to Reunite” - Henry will be reunited with his wife of 53 years, Bernice Wilson, his daughter, Barbara Jean Wilson and his mother, Mary Jane Singleton. “A Time to Mourn” - He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories . . . . . . . four daughters, Mary Harris (James), Carolyn Coverdale, (Duane), Sherry Custis, Vanessa Riddick (Tommy) all of Milford, Delaware; one son, Henry Wilson III (Joann) of Harrington, Delaware; Thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Reese Singleton and Richard Singleton all of Bamberg, South Carolina; one sister, Elouise Smith of Bamberg, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Margret Brown of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
