Helen Elizabeth Thomas

Helen Elizabeth Thomas of Marydel, Maryland, gained her wings on Monday, March 1, 2021. She was 86 years old. She was born on Sunday, May 13, 1934, to the late George Washington Fields Thomas & Estella Cora (Beck) Thomas. At an early age, Helen was baptized and from that point on, she placed God first in her life. Helen graduated in 1952, from Lockerman High School, in Denton, Maryland, and went on to receive the degree of Master of Gospel Music from the National Theological Seminary College, in Baltimore, Maryland. Although she played the flute, kazoo & harmonica, Helen will always be remembered for playing the instrument that she was most passionate about, the PIANO. She played piano for several churches, the most recent and last of her journey being Blanco Faith Community Church in Clayton, Delaware. For many years, Helen worked for Capital Cleaners & Capital Uniform & Linen Service in Dover, Delaware. When she retired, she worked a few other jobs including Allen Foods. Helen enjoyed crocheting (making booties, blankets & hats), watching old TV shows, and catching up on the latest with her pal, Jackie Jones. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred and Alice; brother, Arnold; brothers-in-law, Thomas and Roland; sisters-in-law, Edith, Ruth and Anna; nephews, Kenny, Butchie, Craig, Spencer and Joe; nieces, Evelyn, Helena, Teresa, Delores, Cindy and Lisa; aunt, Julia Beck-Satterwhite; and her uncle, John Henry Beck, Sr. Although, Helen never became a biological mother, she was certainly a mother figure to many. She leaves to mourn her memory, a sister-in-law, Daisey Brown; nieces and nephews, Zafeer Muhammad, Phyllis, Tommy (Patrice), Jeannie (Matt), Jimmy, Tami, Terrell, Brian, John, Linda (Wendell), Eddie (Rachel), Vint (Karen), Jacki G, Diamond, LT, Aaliyah, Beatrice, Peanut, Kisha, Brittaenee’, Zachary, Brandon, Derek, Brennan, Tony, Bobby, Taneisha, Mia, Azariah, Imani, Jahmil, Mia, Doris and Jacki, Ravon, KJ, Brooklynn, Brailynn, Kenedi, and Caden. Helen will also be deeply missed by her church families; Rev. Raymond Russell and Blanco Community Church; Rev. Raymond Fisher and family; her special friend, Jackie Jones (Charles); a host of cousins, more nieces & nephews; former co-workers & friends; her special twins, Landon & London, and “ALL” those who loved & adored her.
