Helen Louise Leatherbury (Fisher)

Obituary Helen Louise Fisher Leatherbury, the beloved daughter of the late Howard Fisher and Sadie Jane Ward Fisher, was born on June 20, 1940 in Pocomoke City, Maryland. God reached out and called His child home on October 22, 2018. Helen received her formal education in the Worcester County public school system. She was employed at Sherwin Williams (Rubberset) of Crisfield, Maryland for many years. She also was employed by and retired from Campbell Soup Company of Pocomoke City, Maryland. At both places of employment, she often spoke of her enjoyment of working there and the fun she had with her friends, often saying it was just like family. Helen enjoyed the simple things in life like crabbing, cooking, doing puzzle books and going to yard sales. She often traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Sight and Sound for Bible plays, which was truly a delight of her heart. She loved her family dearly and was the glue that bonded everyone together. She was witty, full of fun and believed in a real good laugh, just for the fun of it. Helen had a quiet strength that got her through the challenges of life. She loved her family with a truly unconditional love. She was there when she did not even feel like being there, and you would never know it. She will be missed more than she could ever imagine. We love you momma. Helen was a faithful member of New Macedonia Baptist Church in Pocomoke City, Maryland. She was a member of the Missionary Circle, which was a duty that she thoroughly enjoyed. She leaves to cherish a lifetime of precious memories with: her two daughters, Lindorria Leatherbury and Deborah Townsend and one son-in-law, Oscar Townsend, all of Westover, Maryland; three grandchildren, Latosha, Tamela, and Casey; five great grandchildren, Marquise, Kayla, Derek, Myron, and Dylen; three god-daughters, Deborah Matthews and Velva and Linette Gunther; five brothers, Howard and Willard (Claire) both of Pocomoke City, Maryland, Denny (Emma) of New Church, Virginia, Norman (Wanda) of Salisbury, Maryland and Thomas (Diane) of Bridgeport Connecticut; two sisters, Sadie Fisher of Salisbury, Maryland and Geraldine Milbourne of Fredericksburg, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Leon Leatherbury of 60 years, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jane and Dollie Mae and one brother, Kenneth Ray.
