Heide Wilson

Heide Vanessa Wilson was sent into the world on January 23, 1962 in The Women's Hospital in Manhattan New York. She was born to Rev. Dr. Curtis L. Whitney and Mrs. W. Ruth Whitney. She was the eldest sibling of Monique Whitney and Keith Whitney (deceased). At an early age, Heide showed signs of spiritual giftedness. This was apparent by the way she cared for her younger siblings. She was also always eager to attend church. When Heide was graduated from Westbury High School, she attended The University of Pittsburgh, then enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF). There, Heide met her husband Reginald Wilson. Surviving their marriage are their two children Janika Wilson (eldest) and Matthew Wilson (youngest). Heide remained in the USAF Reserves for 20 years before retiring as an E-6 Technical Sergeant while earning her bachelors degree from Nyack College in Business Administration. She rose to a high level of managerial responsibility in the UNISYS Corporation as an efficient North East Regional Communications Director. Outside of work, Heide enjoyed traveling the world, researching her ancestry, and ministry. She was able to travel Europe while in the Air Force. She has also traveled to Aruba, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and Thailand. She was very successful in tracing her lineage. After visiting countless libraries, cemeteries, and relatives, Heide was able to trace connections between lost family branches. She was able to trace the lineage of her paternal family back to our first ancestors in the country. Heide was a very active member of the Lupus Foundation. She has participated in documentaries, research, and campaigns. She actively supported others she met with Lupus, and other autoimmune diseases. In 2012, Heide relocated with her dog Rocco to her dream home, or "Heaven on Earth," in Frederica, DE. After much searching, she found her spiritual family and church in Calvary Baptist Church. Heide was a part of many ministries and groups. At The Mt. Sinai Baptist Church (Brooklyn, NY), where her father, the Rev. Dr. Curtis Whitney pastored, she was very active in the Sunday School, HIV/AIDS, and youth ministries. Heide was also a liaison of the Concord Federal Credit Union. In her current church, the Calvary Baptist Church (Dover, DE), Rev. Dr. Richard Avant pastor, Heide was very active in the church's ministry and outreach, a proud member of the Jewels of Calvary and she simply adored Pastor and sister Avant. Recently, Heide was able to form a special bond with her niece, Kennedy Luna Whitney, as well as the members of her neighborhood and Dover Air Force Base Chapel. Heide leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends. Her legacy on earth was one of true "agape" love, and spreading the Word of God wherever she went.
