Obituary There’s an open gate at the end of the road, through which each must go alone. And there is a light we cannot see, our father claims His own. Beyond the gate your loved one FINDS HAPPINESS AND REST. And there is comfort in the thought that a loving GOD knows Best. Hazel “Dale” Gertrude Bounds Northan, the beloved daughter of the late Levin Bounds and Nettie Gertrude Tull Bounds, was born on March 14, 1925 in Allen , Maryland. She departed this earthly life on July 1, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland. She was educated in the public schools of Wicomico County. Hazel was united in Holy Matrimony to the late William Cecil Northan on April 17, 1944. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1975. Over the years, Hazel, was employed by the former Dulaney Company. She was also employed by the Mary Payne Family, the Cooper Family and the Pollitt Family. In 1964, William and Hazel opened their home to foster children, together they cared for a total of eleven children. Her Furry Friends, Kee-Kee and Ralph were her constant companions. She truly enjoyed her garden in the summer. Hazel loved the LORD and her church. She loved her family and all the family gatherings. She would always greet you with a smile. Hazel memorialized many gatherings through the use of her camera and has many albums in her collection. Hazel was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Allen, Maryland. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the church choir. She was one of the chair women of the Annual Jones and Bounds Day held the first Sunday in October. She leaves loving memories to be cherished by: one son, William E. Northan and wife Julene of Allen, Maryland; two granddaughters, Hope (Edward) Grebos of Salisbury, Maryland and LaShone Stephens of Long Beach, California; one special great grandson, Ni’Wyn of Salisbury, Maryland; two great grandchildren of Long Beach, California and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Homer Bounds, Sr.; five sisters, Lois Bailey, Annie Jones, Pauline Beatty, Malinda Pollitt and Lillian Denton; five nephews, Oliver Bounds, William Collier, Noah Chandler Joyce, James Joyce, Levin Bounds and two nieces, Malinda Bounds Dickerson and Sonia Hall. “If you live each day as if it were your last, Someday you’ll most certainly be right” To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Hazel Northan, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
