Hattie Josephine Collins

Hattie Josephine Collins, beloved daughter of the late William Henry Brown and Edna Hattie Copes, was born on November 25, 1943, in New Church, Virginia. Hattie peacefully transitioned into her eternal rest on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Hattie, known to family and friends as “Betty”, was educated in the Worcester County public school system including Worcester Junior/Senior High School. She would later earn her GED. Betty was employed at P & L Poultry (Golden Pride), Quality Inn and CETA program before working with her husband at CC’s Soul Food Restaurant. Betty was a long-time member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church, where she served as the assistant secretary and secretary. On November 9, 1960, she was united in holy matrimony to Charles Collins. From this union they were blessed with five children: Charles, Stanford, Brian, Genise and Paula. In addition to visiting and visits from her children and grandchildren, Betty enjoyed watching television especially MeTV and Bishop Dale Bronner sermons. She also enjoyed reading and talking on the phone with friends and family including her longtime friends, Beatrice Fryer, Janice Conquest, Rosalie Melendez and Gertrude Cannon (2024). Betty also looked forward to her Sunday visits from her cousin Gladys Burton. Betty leaves to cherish her precious memories: four children, Stanford Collins (Ludamila) of Princess Anne, Maryland, Brian Collins (Teresa) of Prince George, Virginia, Genise Fleming of Salisbury, Maryland and Paula Collins of Prince George, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Shantae Jones (Calvin), Ahkia Collins, Britney Davis (Lester), Tiara Collins, Stanford “Stan” Collins, Brian Collins, Michelle Collins, Joseph Collins, Meghan Collins and Derrick Nettles and four great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Persasia, Amani and Naomi. Also left to cherish fond memories are: one daughter-in-law Chiffon Collins, two brothers-in-law, Leon (Barbara) Mason of Pocomoke City, Maryland and Norman Mason of Wilmington, Delaware; five sisters-in-law, Elsie Bivens of Essex, Maryland, Lottie Manuel, Ethel “Irene” Johnson, and Allena Bagwell, all of Salisbury, Maryland and Beatrice Fryer of Pocomoke City, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Collins (2022) and her son Charles Stanley Collins (2022). Sorrowfully Submitted - The Family
