Harry R. Driggus

Harry Ralph “Skeeter” Driggus, was born to the late Dorothy-Thelma Cooper-Driggus and Harry Driggus, Sr. on July 6, 1951 by a Midwife on Fulton Street in Dover, DE. On Saturday, December 6, 2014 Ralph departed this life to be with his heavenly Father for eternal rest. He attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Dover, DE. He attended William Henry High School and when the new high school was completed, he transferred and graduated from Dover High School in 1970. He excelled at track and field while attending Dover High, winning state championships and Penn relays. He obtained his auto mechanic certification from Poly tech, Camden, DE Ralph was an avid car enthusiast, owning and building several modified Hot Rods, Chevy Powered automobiles. He was a history buff and antique collector. Ralph worked for Kraft General Foods, prior to moving to Bowie, MD, where he worked for UPS Metro D.C , Laurel MD as a Driver of a Double Tractor Trailer for 38 years. Ralph was an easy going person with a level head, dapper dresser, spit polished shoes, loved fishing in the Chesapeake Bay, in his youth he was a camp counselor for Benny George Summer camp. He loved horseback riding, running track and field. He was very proud of his daughter, Tonya and granddaughter, Cierra and he spoke highly of his nieces and nephews and their accomplishments. Ralph is preceded by his late wife Hortensia Tillery- Driggus and leaves to mourn his daughter Tonya Driggus- Shaw, his granddaughter Cierra, Son-in-law Tony Shaw, one brother Jerry Cooper-Driggus, three sisters: Anne D. White (Steve White), Doris A. Cooper, Dorothy Thelma Driggus. Aunts: Dorothy Brady Cooper, Florence Driggus-Brown, Harriett Driggus-Gilmore. Uncle Nelson (Jean) Driggus, great niece, Romana Love-Brown, who was residing with him while pursuing Graduate degree. Three Sister-in-laws: Shirley Lomax, Sandra Stevens, Helen Tillery Ricks (Edward Ricks), nephews Michael Ricks and Phillip Lomax; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
