Harold Lee Lane

Harold Lee Lane, son of the late Carrie and Charlie Lane, was born on February 24, 1957, in Nassawadox, Virginia. He obtained his education through the Northampton County public school system. At an early age, he accepted Christ and attended Bethel Baptist Church in Franktown, Virginia with his parents and siblings. As a young adult, Harold never missed an opportunity to dedicate his time to working hard. He gave many years of service to Holly Farms, Bayshore, Tyson and Perdue. He developed a love for agriculture and would be often seen working in the fields, alongside his brother Jerome Lane and longtime friends, James and Christine Kellam. Harold loved to cook, and if you were around him, he would make sure you ate then and had some to go. He enjoyed attending family events, fishing, playing spades and dominoes. His favorite past time however, would simply be sitting in the comfort of his home watching the news, wrestling, westerns, his favorite soap operas, day time talk shows and of course, his Green Bay Packers during football season. Harold, endearingly called “Lane” or “Mother Chubby” by those who loved him, had a huge heart full of love and gold, that he showered on all who encountered him. Although he never married or had children of his own, Harold took so much joy in being an Uncle to his nieces and nephews. He would often be seen giving out candy or treats to the children of the neighborhood and sometimes money for good grades, or just because. Harold departed this life on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the age of sixty-three (63). He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Charlie Lane, his sister, Minister Ruth Gordy, and his brothers, Jerome Lane and Charles “Edward” Lane. He leaves his legacy of love to be cherished by: A Special Friend; his brother, Herbert Lane Sr., (Johnella); sister, Sally Rogers (John); his aunt Carol Johnson; uncle Preston Johnson; brother-in-law, William Gordy (Ruth); his nieces and nephews, Shinelle Lane (Kiffany, Kevon, Kamar), Deon Rogers (Ortavia, Orielle), Herbert Lane, Jr.(Nasir Lane), Quasheta Gordy, Deshonna Rogers (Zionna, Zahiem, Ziniya, Za’Corey Rogers); a goddaughter, Tika Clark; best friends, Elsie Ferguson, Buster Brown and Clarence “Hollywood” Giddens and a host of other friends and relatives.
