Hardenia Delores Tolliver

Hardenia Delores Tolliver 83 passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 25, 2020. She was born in Denton, Maryland on July 12, 1936 to Charles Sr. and Emma Holland Wilmer. Hardenia was a graduate of Loockerman High School Class of 1955. She attended cosmetology school and after school, met and married Richard T. Tolliver and from this union, Darmay Tolliver was born. She was a member of the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority which is the first African American Greek lettered business sorority established by African American business women. Hardenia was well-known in the Federalsburg community as a licensed cosmetologist for more than 30 years. Once retired from cosmetology, she worked for plants such as Continental Can and seasonally at B & G. She was an avid fan of WWE wrestling, her beloved Baltimore Ravens and Tiger Woods. She could also be found most Saturdays and Sunday at a flea market. She loved to travel and traveled at least once a year with daughter Darmay and grandson Brandon. She loved family gatherings and she loved her family and often times spent time babysitting her foster grandchildren. Hardenia was playful and loved to laugh. She loved people and made friends wherever she went. She was kindhearted and gave regularly to those in need and gave of her time by volunteering her cosmetology services at Deer’s Head Nursing home in Easton. She also contributed her time at the local community center periodically. Although Hardenia was not a regular church goer, she knew the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Sr. and Emma Wilmer, brothers; Robert Wilmer, Charles Wilmer Jr., Norris Wilmer, and sister Elizabeth Prater. She is survived by daughter Darmay Tolliver, grandchild Brandon Tolliver, foster grandchildren Osiris, Damien and Daeyone; Step children Emmett Tolliver (Cambridge, MD) and Richard Tolliver (Columbia, SC), Sisters: Catherine Irene Lofland (John) of Dover, DE, Frances Alston of Philadelphia, PA, Margaret Manning of Los Angeles, CA, Brothers; Edwin Wilmer (Darlene) of Denton, MD, and Wendell Wilmer (Rosie) of Denton, MD, and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
