Gregory O Roberson

Gregory Roberson was born June 20, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Clint Roberson & Madeline Jolly Roberson. God called Greg home November 2, 2019, at Kent General Hospital. Greg was educated in the Philadelphia Pennsylvania & Parmele, North Carolina school systems. Greg was quite an artist and was always looking for ways to improve; he pursued his associates degree in computers & was a true computer geek. Greg chose the military as his first career, his heart led him to the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, he was deployed to Viet Nam, where he received a number of medals. He worked as a Communications Specialist & Supply Specialist. After being out of the Marines for a few months, he decided to join the United States Air Force, where he served as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician & also a Supervisor & Manager. He was a jack-of-all-trades, which propelled him to be an Air Force Recruiter, a Nurse Recruiter and an Office Manager. Greg served over 21 years with the combined services & enjoyed both; however once a Marine, always a Marine. Greg always had an infectious smile that would bring joy to a room. He had a willing & winning personality & would provide assistance, along with advice to anyone that would accept it. He looked at life as an opportunity. He was open to new experiences, whether it was traveling to a new place or becoming a Dive Master. He was just as handy around the house; he even took over our garden. Greg shared his military background with his father who had been in the Army and his wife, son & daughter, who were all in the Air Force. Greg was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Ferguson Roberson, infant daughter & both parents Clint & Mat Roberson, along with his brother, Clint Roberson; mother-in-law, Okerlia Graham; eight uncles and three aunts. As Greg transitions, he leaves his best friend & loving wife, Charley Roberson; son, Gregory Roberson, Jr. (Roni), daughter, Chalanya Bennett (Charles); grandchildren: Shelby, Lauryn, Gregory III, Alex, Chian, Thierry, Xan, Lorenzo, and Angelo; one great-grandson, Asher; two sisters-in-law, Hilda and Helen; a number of close cousins, nieces & nephews, along with so many friends, including his very special friends, Judy Cuttion, Dee Everett & as he would say, “his brother from another mother”, Lee Everett.
