Gladys Louise Holland-Yates (Stanley)

Gladys Louise Stanley Holland -Yates, the daughter of the late Percy Stanley and Marjorie Sampson, was called to rest on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at 5:40 a.m. at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, Easton, Maryland, at the age of 85. Gladys was born on September 12,1932, in Dorchester County, Maryland. She was educated in the public schools in Dorchester County and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1951. She was a member of the band, where she played saxophone. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family and watching the news and Judge Judy. She also enjoyed taking care of her dogs. She had a love for music. She even deejayed back in the day and was known as “Red Bone”. Gladys had many achievements including cosmetology and nursing. She retired from the State of Maryland and after her retirement she worked as a security officer. Just prior to her death, she worked for Defensor Security at the Centreville Court House. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, as well as a mother figure to her community. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond “Sonny” Stanley. Gladys leaves to mourn, her husband, Robert Lee Yates; her children, Vincent Stanley, Jr. (Mary), Easton, MD, Cynthia Morrison, Hurlock, MD, Curtis Holland, Jr. (Tracey), Orlando, FL, and Garrie Holland, Hurlock, MD; Samantha Stanley Clemons, whom she raised as her own; William Strawberry, Danielle Morrison, William Strawberry Jr., Aliyah Holland, Curtis Holland, III, and Dakota Edger, whom she also helped raise; two nieces, Robin Stanley-Rideout and Raynette Stanley-Travers; one nephew, Raynard Stanley; her extended family, Mike Patel & family; 3 special friends and their families, Mildred Waters, Ophelia Mathews, and Mary Ellen; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
