Georgia C. Stanford

Georgia Cecelia “CeCe” Stanford, daughter of the late Isaiah & Shirley Wilson, Jr., was born on January 16, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Thursday, October 28, 2021, in Easton Memorial Hospital, Easton, Maryland, with her husband and family at her side. Georgia received her education in the Baltimore Public School System. Among many of her hobbies, she enjoyed her employment with Christiana Care at the Visiting Nurses Association for many years, as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Caregiver. She was a foster mother, with The Children’s Choice Foster agency, dedicating her life to aid in the nurturing and development of children. Georgia met the love of her life, William W. Stanford, in 1995, in Newark, Delaware, after being introduced to each other by her nephew, Dervon “Motor” Gaskins. They were united in holy matrimony on June 21, 2003, and spent 18 blissful years together. With their union and their families blending together, they had children, Doris P. Saunders, Oleshette “Ole” Stanford, and Zequette Harris. Georgia was a devoted daughter of Christ and obedient servant of the Lord. Throughout her life she attended several churches and loved serving. At her recent congregation, Allen A.M.E. Church, she served as a Pastor’s Aide, President of the Lay Organization. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and also a member of the Usher Board. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and always told whomever would listen, whether willing or unwillingly, about the God she served. She was always willing to help anyone, anywhere, at any time. Georgia was affectionately known as CeCe by her friends and family, Aunt Ce by her nieces and nephews, and Mom Mom by her grandchildren. Her husband lovingly called her Geo (G.O.). She loved taking care of her plants, cooking when she was in the mood, listening to Gospel music, talking to her sister on the phone daily, and spending time with her husband and family. Her parting words were never goodbye but always, “Later.” Georgia leaves to cherish in her memory her husband, William W. Stanford; her daughter, Doris P. Saunders of Wilmington, DE; stepsons, Oleshette “Ole” Stanford (Rosa) of Elkton, MD and Zequette Harris (Jennifer) of Smyrna, DE; sister, Louise Wilson of Bear, DE; brother, Isaiah Wilson III (Joyce) of Newark, DE; sisters-in-law, Iris Johnson (Robert) of Chestertown, MD and Grace “Peggy” King of New Castle, DE; and brother-in-law James C. Stanford (Mary) of Cambridge, MD. She also leaves to cherish her memory;11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two goddaughters; 1 godson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Her family will remember her loving heart, sassy attitude, outspoken personality, infectious laugh, free spirit, and generosity. Georgia touched many lives on her journey and will be sorely missed.
