George Luther Snead

Obituary “May The Work I Have Done Speak For Me” George Luther (Bobby) Snead was born on July 12, 1947 to the late Obie Snead, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Jackson. He made his heavenly transition on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. Bobby received his formal education in the Worcester County public school system. He began his Christian journey at Coolspring United Methodist Church in Girdletree, MD. In later years, he joined St. James United Methodist Church in Westover, MD, where he was an active member of the Trustee Board, Usher Board, Delmarva Usher’s Association and also a member of the Masonic Lodge, but became inactive in later years. He was joined in holy matrimony to Shirley Fontaine on January 18, 1975. One daughter, Shaunda Snead, was born to that union. Although he retired from the City of Salisbury, Bobby was still very active and heavily involved in Snead’s Catering. Bobby and Shirley catered all over the entire Delmarva Peninsula. During catering operations, he was definitely “The Boss.” To know him was to love him because he would light up a room. Anyone who ever met Bobby will never forget him. He enjoyed watching Westerns and Law and Order. Most importantly, he loved watching his favorite team, the “Baltimore Ravens.” He loved the Ravens so much he decorated a special room in his home and dedicated it to his team. He was also a great softball player, as a back catcher. Bobby leaves to cherish precious memories: his loving wife of forty-four (44) years, Shirley Fontaine-Snead; one daughter, Shaunda (friend Ciera) Snead of Pocomoke City, MD; three sons, Gregory (Erika) Snead of Salisbury, MD, Quincy Harmon of Snow Hill, MD and Bruce (friend Latoya) Collins of Washington, DC; two sisters, Marion Ayres of Stockton, MD and Anna (Alfred) Hudson of Snow Hill, MD; one brother, Obie Snead, Jr. of Princess Anne, MD; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wise of Princess Anne, MD, Eleanor Hayward and Mary (Lionel) Ballard, both of Salisbury, MD and Willis Fontaine of Delmar, MD; one brother-in-law, William (Joyce) Fontaine of Westover, MD; one aunt, Madeline Hall of Baltimore, MD; 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 1 god daughter, Mikyla Bailey and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Five special relatives who provided care for him include Nurse Jeanette Williams and Caregivers, Marguerite Robinson, Linda Wise, LaDonya Snead and Obie Snead. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard Jackson and Thomas Jackson and one sister, Agnes Blake. Lovingly Submitted ~ The Family
