George Lamonte Jenkins

George Lamonte Jenkins (Georgie or Lamont) was born in Seaford, DE on May 11, 1970, to Wilmer and Dorothy Jenkins. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Lamont received his education in the Seaford School District. He attended Job Corp in West Virginia and Woodstock, Pennsylvania. His zeal to learn quickly allowed him to excel and receive many awards and certificates of completion. Lamonte chose his course of training to encompass the following trades: Masonry, Computer Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Certified Nursing Assistant and Culinary. Lamont attended Delaware State University. He enjoyed traveling with the gospel choir for it afforded him the opportunity to meet new people. Over the years, Lamonte was employed with Kentucky (KFC), Pinnacle Foods, and the Chocolate Factory. Each of these occupations allowed him, once again, to meet new people. He also worked in occupations such as masonry, flagging, and prior to his death, was recently employed with Disney Land in Orlando, Florida in the area of construction. Lamonte attended Clarence Street Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Isaac Brunson and Bishop Carlton Cannon, Sr. He enjoyed traveling to other churches, youth events and attending the annual Northeast Regional Fellowship. Lamonte also attended Divine Destiny, under the leadership of Bishop Donovan Jenkins. There, he was given opportunity to develop his desire to play the bass guitar. Lamonte was such an outgoing person. He loved to travel, invent, and rebuild things. Once, while visiting his Aunt Louis in New York, he received a brand new radio. Lamonte was so excited. He then sat and took the radio apart. His response, “Don’t worry, I can fix it” and that is what he did. Once he invented the idea of adding a motor to his bike. He figured this would allow faster speed and rest while riding. Well this invention caused Lamonte to be pulled over, but the cop was very interested in what he had created. “I can fix it” is what he would always say. Even in his “good” clothes he could be found working on cars. He often said, “That is why we have soap and water.” Lamonte experienced many miracles and blessings from God within his life, and he was not afraid to share it. One miracle in particular landed him in the ICU of Christiana Hospital. The support of family, pastor Bishop Carlton Cannon Sr. and Sis. Lettie Cannon meant so much to him! In 2011, Lamonte met Rene Johnson, while on a family vacation in Orlando, FL. On February 18, 2012, they were joined in holy matrimony. From this union, George Lamont Jenkins, Jr., was born, in 2014. The family resided in Kissimmee, FL. They attended church together and, as a family, enjoyed traveling. George Lamonte Jenkins, Sr., leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Rene Jenkins; son, George Lamonte Jenkins, Jr; parents, Wilmer and Dorothy Jenkins of Seaford, DE; brothers, Kevin Jenkins of Seaford, DE and Wilmer Jenkins, Jr., of Laurel, DE; sister, Cassandra Jenkins; nieces and nephews, Ke’Mari and Ke’Mariya Houchens-Jenkins, Lydia Jenkins, all of Seaford, DE, K’miyah Bannister of Georgetown, DE and Ra’Janea Myers of Rehoboth, DE; beloved in-laws and extended family of Florida; favorite cousin, Alice Jackson-Fields-Boggs of West Virginia; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and friends.
