Gavin Wharton

Gavin ‘s Story Gavin Elizabeth Wharton, at the age twelve (12), went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with brain cancer on Monday, December 14, 2020 at the residence of her devoted aunt and uncle in Snow Hill, Maryland. She was born on November 26, 2008 to Nicole Hoffman and Garrick L. Wharton, Sr. of Salisbury, Maryland. Gavin was a 5th grade student at Prince Street Elementary School in Salisbury, Maryland. Her school really loved her and showed how much they cared with a “Christmas Cheer Walk” on Saturday, December 12, 2020, prior to her passing. She faithfully attended Coolspring United Methodist Church with her Aunt Bea. Gavin loved making slime, jewelry and doing various arts and crafts. Her latest project was making a gingerbread house with her Aunt Kenya. She also enjoyed playing UNO and bragging when she won. She loved music and dancing. She loved songs by Drake; her favorites were “God’s Plan” and “In My Feelings.” She had a big heart and loved everyone. Her beautiful smile would brighten your day. Her favorite colors were purple, blue and pink. She loved butterflies and unicorns. She liked Math but dismissal was Gavin’s favorite subject. Gavin was loved by everyone. A special aunt, Beatrice Wharton stayed by her side throughout her illness, lovingly caring and providing for her. Another special aunt, Cathy and uncle, Earl Wharton opened their home up and took care of Gavin during her sickness until her call home to be with God. Also, a special aunt, Kenya, helped with Gavin as well. She was her favorite aunt whom she loved dearly. Precious memories of Gavin’s life will be cherished by: her parents, Nicole Hoffman and Garrick L. Wharton, Sr.; three brothers, Garrick L. Wharton, Jr. and Byron Wharton (Tre’ona), both of Salisbury, Maryland and Darian Griffith of Parsonsburg, Maryland; one sister, Delaney Hoffman of Salisbury, Maryland; four aunts, Kenya Wharton of Pocomoke, Maryland, LaToya and Paige Johnson, both of Salisbury, Maryland and Jessica White of Parsonsburg, Maryland; two uncles, Rashawn Wharton of Girdletree, Maryland and Gary Hoffman, Jr. of Frederick, Maryland; three nieces, Nevaeh and Gemiah Wharton, both of Salisbury, Maryland and Aniya Briddell of Berlin, Maryland; four nephews, Brayceon, Grayson and Byler Wharton and Siarre Mayers, all of Salisbury, Maryland and Gavin was also cherished by a host of many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
