Frances B. Mosley

Frances, daughter of the late Mary Ann Harris Burris and Clarence Clifford Burris, Sr., was born on July 29, 1940 in Felton, DE. She departed this life Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Frances received her elementary education at Reeves Crossing Public School Felton, Delaware, and Booker T. Washington, Dover, Delaware. She graduated from William Henry Comprehensive High School, Dover, Delaware. Frances enjoyed singing, traveling, and being surrounded by family and friends. She never passed up the opportunity to dine out, or dine in at a family member's house. Frances loved the Lord and served him faithfully from a little girl until her passing. Everywhere Delema went, Frances was not too far behind - enjoying those daily excursions with her big sister became a way of life over the years. There's those Burris girls, one would say, truly a sibling bond separated by only 18 months in age which Frances would remark “you have to tell everyone the difference in our age.” Frances loved the annual family day at church, as well as the annual family reunion at Killen's Pond. Frances lived life the way she wanted and to its fullest. Her church work started at an early age. She was converted and joined St. James Union A.M.E. Church, Berrytown, which is now, St. James Union A.M.E. Church, Frederica, Delaware. Frances was the president of the Senior Choir; President of the Usher board, Member of the Mary A. Burris Missionary Society, past Y.P.D. Director for 35 years, President of the Ladies Aide, a member of the Steward and Stewardess Boards, past Secretary of the Trustee Board, a member of the Lay Organization, Pastor's Aide, Culinary Committee, and past First Vice President of the Delaware Conference Women's Missionary Society. She was proceeded in death by four brothers: Ellis (Hazel), Norman, George Calvin (Marlene), and Clarence Burris, Jr.; four sisters, Doris and Louise Burris, Thelma (George) Demby, and Helen (Vaughn) Baynard, brother-in-law, Thomas Donald Carter of Felton, one God daughter, Frances Johnson, one God son, Stacey Pritchett. She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband of 44 years, Herman C. Mosley, Sr., one daughter, Sharon Bernice Burris of Harrington, DE; two sons, Bruce Lamont Mosley of Dover, DE and Herman C. Mosley, Jr. of Harrington, DE two granddaughters, Shanda Mitchell, of Magnolia, DE, and Talexis (Tony) Hatton, of Seaford, DE, two grandsons, Bruce Lamont Mosley, Jr. and Teric Henry of Seaford, DE; three great grandchildren, one God daughter, Jamie Brown of Harrington, DE; one God son, Keith Pritchett, of Georgia, a loving sister, Delema Carter, (who was her sister, friend, and mom) of Felton, DE, two sisters-in-law, Creola Burris of Milford, DE, and Alverda Burris of Seaford, DE, two brothers-in-law Charles (Juanita) Mosley of Seaford, DE and Benjamin Mosley of VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
