Ethel Isabell Lee

On Sunday, October 28, 2012, Ethel Isabell Lee peacefully slipped away and answered when she heard God's call to come home to eternal peace. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith; Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteousness judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing". II Timothy 4:7-8 Ethel Isabell Lee, daughter of the late James Straudy Ming and Arie Beatrice Ming was born on July 1, 1915, in Pondtown, Maryland. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late James Kennard Lee in December 1932. This union was blessed with three children, Constance Phenola, Adolphus Marcellus and Kennard Franklin. Ethel was a devoted wife and mother. Ethel worked for Vita Food in Chestertown, Maryland until the plant closed down. She was a devoted employee with great work ethics. She took pride in her work which enabled her to become lead person on line. Ethel, Mother, Mom Lee, Aunt Ethel and Ms. Ethel as she was affectionately called was loved for her many acts of kindness. She always had a place in her heart for anyone who was in need. Our lives were enriched by her example of caring and generosity. Following the footsteps of her parents, Ethel learned to love the Lord and His teaching. Her Christian life began at an early age and she remained a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church until illness curtailed her activities. Her activities included: member of the parsonage committee, member of the Home Mission Chorus, Senior Choir, member of the United Methodist Women and the Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital Auxiliary #2 and a member of the Lucretia Kennard Homemakers. As a true missionary, she not only faithfully served her church but was active and caring in the community. She enjoyed leading the way towards setting up the Christmas Fund, helping to set up for the summer carnival and chaperoning dances for the children at the school house. As her health continued to fail, her faith in God never faltered. The love, care and tenderness of her son, Adolphus and family was the source from which she drew strength. Ethel was also preceded in death by her daughter, Constance Phenola; son, Kennard Franklin; brother, Medford Straudy Ming and step-daughter, Ida Mae Clark. She leaves with precious memories to sustain them until they meet again; her devoted and loving son, Adolphus Lee; five grandchildren, Bonita Lee Shehee, Phyllis Lee Spears, Jacqueline Hackett, Lamont Berry and Charles Clark; six great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; special nieces, Beverly Ming Jews (Upper Marlboro, MD) and Rosanne Thomas (St. George's, Bermuda) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
