Eric McKinley Hayward

Eric McKinley Hayward, Sr. departed this life on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 1:35 p.m. He was born August 25, 1967 in Salisbury, MD. He was the son of Pauline Oakley and Earvine Hayward, Sr and the adopted son of the late Isaiah Oakley. Eric was educated in the Somerset County Public School System. He graduated from Washington High School in 1986. While attending Washington High, he attended Masonry classes and worked in that area after graduation. In July of 2010, Eric married Kathy Barry Hayward. She preceded him in dead in January 2012. Eric was employed at Jubilant Cadista when he became ill. Prior to that, he was employed as a manager of Soft Touch Car Wash for over 27 years. Eric accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. In his younger days, he attended St. Marks in Oaksville, MD. He often asked questions about the Bible and the Lord. Spiritual TV shows were a favorite of his. Eric was a quiet person who basically went to work and came home. He was so laid back, that his friends often called him “Preacher Man”. He loved to play cards and bragged about the “whipping” he was going to give his opponents. He also loved cars, especially Mustangs. One of his favorite past times was going to the race track. He leaves cherished memories to: two daughters, Ebony Hayward of Baltimore, MD and Tia White of Salisbury, MD; three sons, Eric Hayward, Jr. and Jadon Hayward both of Salisbury, MD and Wendell Hitch of Princess Anne, MD; his mother, Pauline Oakley of Salisbury, MD; his father Earvine Hayward, Sr. of Lincoln, DE; four brothers. Lionel(Zina)Gale, Earvine(Courtney) Hayward, Jr., Troy Hayward and Victor Armwood all of Salisbury, MD; three sisters, Stephanie Hayward of Baltimore, MD, Vanessa Russell and Michel(Bruce) Clark both of Salisbury, MD; three uncles, Sidney(Beatrice) Hayward of Princess Anne, MD, Archie(Barbara) Leatherbury of Wilmington, DE and Donald McCready of Stone Mountain, GA; two aunts, Norma Lee Disharoom of Princess Anne, MD and Lois Douglas of Salisbury, MD; one great aunt, Agnes Eason of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren, Jerminah, Noelle, Amayah and Lakyla; a very special friend, Lena Brown of Salisbury, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
