Emma Julia Nelson (Johnson)

Obituary Emma Julia Nelson, a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, was called home to be with the Lord at the age of sixty-two (62) on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at her home in Salisbury, Maryland. Born on March 20, 1957 in Newberry, South Carolina, she was one of six children born to the late Silas “T.C.” Johnson and Lucille Johnson. She graduated from Wicomico High School in 1975 in Salisbury, Maryland. She later met the love of her life, Robert Nelson Jr., in 1976 and they spent thirty-six (36) wonderful years together. Mrs. Nelson was a dedicated, hard worker who spent ten (10) years at Campbell Soup, ten (10) years at the Holly Center and then eleven (11) years at Deer's Head Center as a housekeeping supervisor. During her many years of service, she received many awards and achievements. Emma was a proud member of the Power House Church of God In Christ in Salisbury, Maryland, where she willingly served for over 20 years under the leadership of Pastor Alexander Duffy and the late Pastor Julius L. Clifton. Mrs. Nelson was a beautiful, caring and loving woman who felt her family was one of the most important things in her life. She loved and held her family down through the most difficult times. She always was there to help take care of others, sometimes even putting them before herself. Emma was truly one of a kind and every time you saw her, she had a big, beautiful smile on her face. She cherished every moment spent with family and friends and loved taking family vacations and hanging with her sister, Dorothy Johnson. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: one son, Robert Nelson, III; daughters Shawine Nelson and Shanyale Nelson; two grandchildren, Alaizya Nelson and Levelle Washington; two great grandchildren, Martez and Sade Dozier; three sisters, Annie Mayers of Cleveland Ohio, Dorothy Johnson of New Castle, Delaware and Ruth Johnson of Salisbury, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nelson, Jr., her father, Silas “TC” Johnson and mother, Lucille Johnson as well as her mother-in-law, Virginia Gerald, brother, Willie Johnson, sister, Carrie Bryant and brother-in-law, Randy Nelson.
