Elsie H. Wilson

Elsie Henrietta Wilson was born on November 10, 1928, in Chestertown, Maryland, to Ada Wilson and William Whittington. She departed this life the evening of January 23, 2021, after falling ill to the COVID-19 virus. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during her final days of life. Elsie was raised in Big Woods and was a diligent learner and student throughout her life. She attended Coleman School and then Garnett High School, where she graduated in 1946. After graduation, Elsie worked with a number of companies including VitaFoods, Campbell Soup Company, Leeds Hardware and Kent County High School, from where she retired. She was a beloved co-worker, employee and friend to all. While Elsie accomplished many things during her ninety-two years of life, her greatest gift to the world was her family. She was a phenomenal mother to Annie Wilson and Thomas R. Wilson, who preceded her in death. She was grandmother to Thomas E. Wilson, Marvin Wilson and Alicia Wilson, and mother-in-law to Josephine Wilson. Her countless nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins all were recipients of her love and support. Elsie Wilson was fondly known as Mother, Grandma Elsie, and Aunt Elsie. She always supported her family and friends and was in attendance at every graduation, holiday, birthday celebration, retirement party, anniversary party, or celebration that uplifted her family and friends. She loved good food and was known to snap her fingers to a good tune. Elsie loved the Lord, all of her life. She was an active member of the Stillpond/Coleman United Methodist Charge and New Christian Chapel of Love. She also served within the ranks of United Methodist Women. She encouraged her family and friends to all come to have a relationship with God. Elsie was a dedicated servant in her community and worked with various charities including the Hospital Auxiliary Board. She loved to draw, play games and create arts and crafts. She leaves many to cherish her memory, including, her loving daughter, Annie Wilson; daughter-in-law, Josephine Wilson; three grandchildren, Thomas E. Wilson, Marvin C. Wilson and Alicia L. Wilson; brother, William Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
