Elsie’s Life Story Elsie Mae Jeffers, affectionately known as "Sis” and “Mother Elsie," was eighty-six (86) years old on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. While at home in Pondtown, Maryland, God called His faithful servant to be at rest from all her labor. My Mom was born on November 15, 1938 in Pondtown to the late Edward and Annie (Hines) Ringgold. She was the only sister of three older brothers, Linwood "Dick”, Rockwell "Fred", and Rudolph "Rudie." Elsie Mae received her formal education from Pondtown segregated Elementary and Middle School and graduated in the "Class of 1956" at Kennard High School in Centreville, Maryland. She was employed at Campbell Soup Company in Chestertown, Maryland and Leed's Manufacturer in Clayton, Delaware for a number of years before retiring from Playtex International Apparel in Dover, Delaware after twenty-seven (27) years of dedicated service. She was married to her devoted, dedicated and loving husband, Arnold Wilson Jeffers for over sixty-five (65) years and he did not mind telling you (boasting) about it. They were like "Peanut Butter and Jelly." She was a quiet-spirited person who did not mind because "Biggie talked for the both of us", but would do anything to ensure you were comfortable. Mother Elsie was very active in many church ministries that spanned at least sixty-three (63) years with The Gospel Church of God (Founder/Bishop C.W. Cotton) which is now Faith Life Church (Bishop Ronald T. Fisher) of Chestertown, Maryland. She faithfully served on the Prayer Band of Faith, as an Usher, Kitchen committee, Choir, Trustee and so many more, but most notably, was the Mother of the Church. Elsie Mae was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Arnold W., her parents, Annie and Edward Ringgold, her brothers, Linwood "Dick", Rockwell "Fred" and Rudolph "Rudie" and sons, Gregory A. and Raymond A. She is survived by: her children, Angela V. and Alisa M. of Pondtown, Maryland, Kevin W. (Ida Mae) of Florida and Darrell D. (Maria of Delaware) and godchildren, Nathan (Shawnique) of Pennsylvania and Naomi of Delaware. She was a devoted and blessed woman of God to have fifteen (15) grand children and a host of great grand and great great grand children as well as leaving behind a great legacy of family/cousins, friends, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
