Elsie Mae Harmon

Elsie’s Journey “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1 Elsie Mae Schoolfield Harmon was born on April 10, 1928 to the late Clarence and Ella Schoolfield in Snow Hill, Maryland. She departed this earthly life on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland surrounded by her loved ones. Elsie, the youngest of five children, was raised in a loving Christian home and as a child, attended St James Holiness Church and was baptized in the Pocomoke River at an early age. She later became a faithful member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an usher, Sunday school teacher, sang with the Voices of Zion Choir and helped in the fellowship hall. She remained faithful in spite of her failing health. Elsie was educated in the Worcester County public school system, from which she graduated. She moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a brief period where she enjoyed spending time with her family and worked at a Cigar Factory. However, her love for Snow Hill would call her back home where she worked as a dedicated Poultry Plant employee until her retirement. Elsie met the love of her life, Charles “Bobby” Harmon and they united in holy matrimony on June 25, 1966. They shared many good years together and they enjoyed entertaining family and friends and had a special love for children. Although they had no biological children, they were blessed with eight Godchildren, Kevin, Jennifer, Jeanne, Evonne, Evette, Tony, Evalina and Edward “Rock”. Elsie leaves to cherish fond and beautiful memories: thirteen nieces, Esther Blocker, Eileen Hicks (Sedrick), Juanita Jacobs, Ruth Fullard (Herman), Diane Thornton (Christopher), Dorothy Robinson (Richard), Winifred Johnson, Ella Matthews, Sadie Waters (Stanley), Sophia Simpson, Jackie Simpson, Peggy Mitchell and Annette Breazeale; two nephews, Darnell Simpson and Dwight Harmon (Gwen); sister-in-law, Edith Simpson; two cousins, Bertha Tann and Raymond “Pete” Johnson; a host of grandnieces and grandnephews and her caregivers, Janet Molock, Lovie Clark, Juanita Pruitt and Katrina Holden. Preceding her in death, besides her parents, were her beloved husband, Charles “Bobby” Harmon, sisters, Constance Beckett and Mildred Williams, brothers, Frank Johnson and George Johnson, nieces, Cordelia Beckett, Tracey Simpson.
