Ella Louise Jones

Obituary Ella Louise (Copes) Jones, a resident of Salisbury, Maryland, entered into eternal rest August 31, 2020 at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Salisbury, Maryland. She had lived on this earth for seventy-seven (77) years. Born on March 15, 1943 in Salisbury, Maryland, Ella was daughter of the late George Satchell Copes and Lola Mae (Taylor) Copes. She was a product of the Wicomico County public school system where she attended Salisbury High. Ella was employed in various jobs in her life, ending at Bayliner Marine where she worked in the upholstery department doing something she loved, which was sewing. Joined in matrimony to Clifford Jones on February 28, 1993 during one of the worst snowstorms our area has seen, their love and devotion to each other was clearly evident to everyone who witnessed their union. They had for each other, a commitment that lasted twenty-seven (27) years until her departure. Ella was a faithful member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church in Salisbury, Maryland. She enjoyed blending her voice with others on the Mass Choir. She was also a member of the dance group called Phenomenal Women, which praise danced to God’s Word. Additionally, she served in the Grant Outreach Program. Ella V, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, had a great love of cooking and it was her philosophy that no one left her home hungry. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother and grandmother and she excelled at supporting her children and grandchildren through many of life’s challenges. She loved her children and that love multiplied when her grandchildren were born. She adored them and they loved going to Mom Mom’s to be spoiled rotten and fed outrageous amounts of goodies. Ella was a praying woman and prayed often that her children would find Christ. Thank you mother for praying for us; your prayers were not in vain. Ella was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law (Margaret Jane Piper and Leroy Piper), sister Georgieana Brown, half sister Harriet Jackson and nephew, Leroy Piper, Jr. She leaves to cherish precious memories: a husband of twenty-seven (27) years, Clifford Jones; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald (Tyann) Copes and Charles (Robina) Byrd; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sabrina (Lake) Fletcher, Pamela (Joseph) Brown and Lisa Byrd; one brother-in-law, Oliver Brown; twelve (12) grandchildren; twenty (20) great-children; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
