Elizabeth Davis

Elizabeth Davis, daughter of the late Richard Davis, Sr. and Helen Matthews Davis was born on March 22, 1934 in Keller, Virginia. She departed this life on Friday, February 28, 2014. She was 79 years old. Elizabeth Davis was raised in Keller, Virginia and received her education through the Accomack County Public Schools. In the early 1960’s, she moved to Delaware. Known as Lil by her family and friends, she was a well-known and respected matriarch of the Coolsprings Community and provided daycare services for the majority of the families there. She was nice to everyone and was always willing to help. Elizabeth was very pro-family with strong maternal instincts and always advocated the importance of education. She loved reading, gardening and doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles, and attending family reunions. Elizabeth has always been a hard worker all of her life providing stability for her family. She was employed at a number of jobs including Swift Poultry plant, Showell Poultry plant, Allen Family Foods, Rusty Rudder and worked as a dietary aide at the Georgetown Cheer Senior Center. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith in Ellendale, Delaware under the leadership of Bishop Omega Shelton. She loved to read the bible and always got every answer right in Bible Trivia and Bible Jeopardy. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her son, Conaway Davis and her six sisters: Mary Frances Clark of Virginia, Rehelen Adams, Lewes, DE; Dorothy Davis, Keller, VA; Martha Jane Davis, Millsboro, DE; Ann Watson, Keller, VA, Madeline Johnson, Washington, DC; seven brothers: Milton Matthews, Frankford, DE; Harold Davis, Newport News, VA; Joseph Davis, Keller, VA; Elton Lee Davis, Keller, VA; Richard Davis, Vineland, NJ; Gerald Davis, Newport News, VA, Leon Davis, Laurel, DE. She is survived by her six children: Doug Davis, Milford, DE, Cynthia Epps, Oakland, CA, Floyd Davis, Fayetteville, NC, Janet Davis, Milton, DE, Stacey Walker, Greenwood, DE, and Manuel Davis, Milton, DE; 10 grandchildren and12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
