Eleanor Waples

Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in Bayhealth, Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 87 years old. Mrs. Waples was born December 4, 1925 in Dover, daughter of the late John and Helen Sullivan. She received her education from White Oak School and Booker T. Washington School. She was employed by the State of Delaware, for 30 years, in which she served as cook for two Governors (1) Terry and (2) Tribbett. She also cooked for several different organizations. She truly loved to cook and was excellent at it. She enjoyed watching TV the Western channel, going to watch her sons, brothers and nephews play softball, etc. She liked the songs “You Can Ring My Bell” and “There’s A Leak in This Old Building”. She was a faithful member of Love Temple Church for 30 years where she was active on the Trustee Board, Mother’s Board, Senior Choir, Kitchen Committee and Love Temple Choir. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two husbands, James N. Adams, Sr. and Linford Waples; daughter, Jeanette J. Adams; three sisters, Helen D. Sullivan, Anna V. Tribbett and Mildred E. McKinnon; two brothers; Clarence Sullivan, Sr. and Charles G. Sullivan. She is survived by three daughters, Thelma M. Adams, Geneva R. Adams and Louella Adams all of Dover; three sons, James N. Adams, Jr. of Dover, Harley (Valarie) Adams of Frederica and Lester S. Adams of Dover; three sisters; Grace Williams, Pauline (Raymond) Sells and Barbara Durham all of Dover; two brothers; John (Jacqueline) Sullivan and Larry Sullivan all of Dover, two sisters-in-law, Carrie Sullivan and Gina Sullivan of Dover; thirteen grandchildren, Gary D. Stanford of Dover, Latayna (Robert) Jackson of Texas, Shirley A. Stanford of Georgia, Dorothy E. Adams, Gregory (Stephanie) Adams, Tina Adams, Keshawn Adams, James R. Adams, all of Dover, Tony Adams of Texas, Tiffany Adams of Macon, GA, Cory Mills and Jeff Matthews of Dover and Cameron Adams of Frederica; 32 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; two aunts, Pauline Sullivan and Libby Sullivan of Dover; and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends; a special friend and chauffeur, Kathleen Joyner.
