Edward Waters Sr.

Edward Waters, Sr., a resident of Snow Hill, Maryland, departed this life at the age of eighty-four (84) on Friday, June 07, 2024 at his home. He was born on November 14, 1939 in Snow Hill, Maryland to the late Howard and Nellie Mumford Waters. Edward was nicknamed “Teddy,” “Ed,” “Pop-Pop” and “Bop” and many more, just to name a few. He received his early education in Worcester County public schools, completing his formal education at Worcester High School. He was a very hard-working man, determined to support his family. He was employed at many places until he landed the job of his dreams, at State Highway Administration, from where he retired after fourteen (14) years of dedicated service. Edward was united in holy matrimony to Barbara Gumby Waters on June 24, 1961. Five children were born from this union. Edward began his spiritual journey at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Snow Hill, Maryland, where he served for fifty (50) plus years. He was a member of the Trustee board, cemetery committee and Ed also sang on “multiple” choirs. Some of his favorite songs were, “I Believe,” “When I See Jesus” and “Lord Do It For Me.” Ed enjoyed spending quality time with family, attending his Grand/Great-Grandchildren’s school events and activities, steaming crabs in his shed, hunting, enjoying wildlife, distributing snacks, (Huggies, lollipops, etc.) to all the children in the community. Edward loved children! He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Barbara Waters of Snow Hill, Maryland; five children, Terry Waters of Pocomoke City, Maryland, Brian(Ansheai) Waters of Snow Hill, Maryland, Edward Waters, Jr. and Tammy Waters, both of Salisbury, Maryland and Adrien (Naomi) Waters of Pittsville, Maryland; four siblings, Alice Martin of Camden, New Jersey, Betty Ann Bishop of Fruitland, Maryland, Ornelda Carey of Princess Anne, Maryland and Rose Samuels of Camden, New Jersey; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, Geigha Roberts, who gave him the nickname “Bop” and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Edward was also preceded in death by: four sisters, Teola McClendon, Estella Waters, Ruth Purnell and Lola Finney; four brothers, Robert Waters, Sr., Sherwood Waters, Sr., Wardell Waters and Alfred Waters; one grandson, Kendall Norman, Jr. and twin great-grandsons, Kingston and Kendall Norman III.
