Edward E Butler Sr.

Edward (Eddie) Earl Butler, Sr., departed his life on Monday, November 28, 2016, at his home in Georgetown, Maryland. He was born on June 15, 1940, in Georgetown, Maryland to the late Remus J. Butler and the late Essa L. Grinnel Butler. He attended Henry Highland Garnet High School. He was employed for 10 years with Master Mechanical in Felton, Delaware. He was also employed as a Supervisor for 10 years with John Julian Construction Company in Wilmington, Delaware. After 25 years of service with Corrado Construction Company in New Castle, Delaware, he retired in June, 2006. On March 10, 1962, the late Reverend Bryant joined Eddie and Lois Bernice Johnson in holy matrimony. At a young age he joined Asbury United Methodist Church, Georgetown, Maryland. In 1990, he became of member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Pamona, Maryland, where he held numerous positions which included Chairman of the Trustee Board, Chairman of the United Methodist Men, Head Men’s Usher, the Cemetery Committee, Souls of Faith Choir, Chancellor Choir, and 100 Voices Choir. His favorite hymns were “Precious Lord”, “Yes God Is Real”, “May the Work I’ve Done Speak For Me”, and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee.” He was a member of the Laborer’s International Union Local 199 for 45 years. His hobbies included doing plumbing work for family and friends, manicuring his yard, and home improvement projects, which he proudly taught his younger brothers and daughter, Lori. He also thoroughly enjoyed attending family cookouts. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Remus and Essa Butler; brothers, Anthony Butler and Leonard Butler; sons Edward (Bino) Butler, Jr. and Rondal Butler; and daughter Marlo Butler. He leaves to mourn his wife of 54 loving years Bernice Butler; daughter Lori Butler Perry and son in law, Tony (Worton, Maryland); grandchildren Damonia Butler, Sharmyia Butler, Sharay Butler, Tyrone White, Tyrel White and Charnita Johnson; great grandchildren Damonia Butler, Jr., Brooklyn Butler, and Cameron Browne; brothers Remus Butler (Dorothy), Franklin Butler, Sr. (Wynee); sister in law Sadonia Gilbert; brother in law Allen Johnson, Jr. (Ruby); sisters in law Irene Blake and Christine Burke; and a host of nieces and nephews.
