Obituary Doretha Patricia Washington-Collins departed this life on Monday, June 5, 2023, in Easton, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late William Lee Washington and Dorena Frances Aldridge-Washington. She was born on March 21, 1944, in Easton, Maryland. As a child, she loved to play ball, games, checkers, marbles, and old maid cards. She also enjoyed singing songs and having lots of fun with her brothers, sisters, and cousins. Doretha received her education in Dorchester County and graduated with the Class of 1962, Maces Lane High School in Cambridge, Maryland. Doretha was united in marriage to Thomas (Tom) M. Collins Sr. of Exmore, Virginia on November 24, 1962, and they have two sons, Thomas Collins Jr., and Gary Collins. Tom and Doretha shared sixty years of marriage with a long-lasting love for each other. Doretha began employment with Rob Roy Sewing Factory and moved on to employment at Western Publishing Company in Cambridge, Maryland and remained there until retiring with 40 years of dedicated service. Doretha later worked part-time at Walmart in Easton, Maryland until her health began to fail. Doretha was an active member of Hurlock United Methodist Church where she served as an usher and sang in the choir with her husband Tom, her sister Barbara and brother-in-law, William Collins. She loved reading novels, doing crossword puzzles, and taking trips to various places. Doretha dressed like a queen in whatever she wore, from her dresses, suits, hats, heels, coats, and jewelry…. everything would match from head to toe. Tom and Doretha loved to coordinate their outfits for any event they attended. They were members of the Maces Lane High School Alumni and each year they both looked forward to the Annual Maces Lane All Class Reunion. It was a three-day event that they enjoyed attending being well-dressed for it each year. Doretha is survived by her husband Thomas Collins Sr.; two sons Thomas Collins Jr. (Angela) of Hurlock, Maryland and Gary Collins Sr. (Laura) of East New Market, Maryland; four sisters, Barbara Collins (William Sr.) of Hurlock, Maryland, Diana Harrison (Tyrone) of Laguna Hills, California, Virginia Washington (Maurice) of Hurlock, Maryland and Geraldine Petty (Oscar) of Dover, Delaware; six grandchildren, Gary Collins Jr. and Shaquna Pinkett (Michael) of East New Market, Maryland, Candice White (James) of Roswell, Georgia, James Lake (Jalessa) of Lynchburg, Virginia, Travis Collins (Shaqueta) of Felton, Delaware, Brianna Wilcox of Hurlock, Maryland, and fifteen great-grandchildren; Aunt Marybell Sample of Virginia; sisters-in-law Geneva Thomas of Harmony, Maryland, Patsy Collins and Beverly Collins of Hurlock, Maryland. She is also survived by a special niece, Sylvia Collins, of Baltimore, Maryland and a special nephew, William Collins Jr. of Hurlock, Maryland and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Doretha is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Isadore Aldridge and Floyd Donald Aldridge, and a special cousin, Gerald Aldridge. Lovingly submitted the Family
